For those that eschew the Monarchy
because they are basically figureheads and serve no purpose whatsoever in the governing of the UK...what is your opinion of our Congress? Because where I am sitting, it is basically a place for wealthy people to go to amass more wealth for themselves and their friends and serve no purpose whatsoever for the commoners.

1. Nice post George III!
When we fix the way elections are funded, all that will change.

2. Of course you do understand that the elections aren't going to be fixed?
Just like guns, God, and Gays bring the troglodytes out from under rocks to the polls--the fear of the trogs and the hope that one day we will have election reform to bring about real change bring us to the polls.

And the truth is...very little will change.

Rinse, lather, repeat next election cycle.

3. I not only eschew them, I spit them out
The Royals are a tourist attraction, nothing more.

Even though the Queen is sovereign of my country, I give her no more respect or regard than I do a waterskiing squirrel.

It's interesting, but it affects my life in NO WAY.

4. There is some loops in there.

The media, or presentation, creates a purpose, since people become interested, and it is a distraction for some, and there is a dream girls are taught when young about a prince in shining armor.

So there is a story, fictional, dream like thought, some have about the wedding, or the existence of royalty. Although that same type of thing is done by many cultural modifications to setting of role models.

One of the reasons the 'approved' corporate music is about money so often, is to set a wish list for people to think they should dream to be, or live through vicariously.

So it does have a purpose in the entertainment side of things.

Although the truth of royalty and thoughts of superiority or rule without popular consent causes many travesties, but many think like Bush, a dictatorship would be great if I was the dictator, in that the 'king or queen' dream is like the people that think taxes on the rich are bad thinking they will be rich some day.

Its a long topic, and there is some dream fantasy element to the pomp and circumstance, and terrible consequences to the elevating of people without merit.

I hope they had a pleasant wedding day, everyone should. Although maintaining the concept of monarchy does disservice to those oppressed by commons that make that claim in many places that are called dictatorships, or even aristocracies. Although plutocracy is actually worse. At least monarchy you get a random leader, not some guy trained to be an ass by a system that rewards profit first systems. Although much of monarchy or silver spoons, bring up people that are out of touch with reality.

5. Congress, at the present time, consists mostly of traitors
who should each be in little tiny cells awaiting their shots.

6. The US has helped engineer a GLOBAL PLUTOCRACY where a few dozen Potentates --
whether you call them Kings, CEO's, Philanthropist, Emirs etc amass incredible wealth and power, effectively ruling he world.

That is the new system of Monarchy -- not so different than the old.
