Tuscaloosa - Before and after satellite images |
|
http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2011/04/alabama_tornadoes_close-up_sat.htmlMove the blue slider left/right in the middle of each image. I've seen damage like this before, but it really looks like this one must compare with the infamous Tri-State Tornado of 1925. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tri-State_Tornado

6. The shopping center was trashed. |

And on the bottom end of photo one, every other building is destroyed, but the ones next to them are standing. So odd.
In later photos, entire groves of trees ripped out.
Scary stuff.

15. Holy crap. That shopping center is just south of my cousin's neighborhood. |
|
I was checking the satellite photos on Google Earth. Just off the top edge of the shopping center photo are railway tracks, and my cousin's neighborhood is on the other side. Her family is OK. I already knew that, but damn...

Jobs to rebuild. Of course, the 9th Ward wasn't rebuilt. I hope people rebuild and not let the Insurance companies screw them.
