DU Fantasy football draft

I only got two players that I had wanted to draft. Whew. Hella fast the ranking players went. Patrick Mahomes went in round 1.
So I took Kelce in round 2. Otherwise as the 10th drafting team I would have literally been shut out of so many players.

Good luck DU friends. That was wild!

There better be universal coverage for DENTAL

Before any universal coverage for IVF.

We all have teeth. We NEED universal coverage for dental.

A small minority want IVF.
It is NOT NEEDED.

This fucking shite with candidates pandering to minority lifestyle choices is as close to buying votes as it gets.

DENTAL coverage-that is something we can all get behind and we all have in common.

IVF is a personal choice. Adoption is a personal choice. Dental is not.

IVF is expensive and we should not have to kick in to help someone pay for it.

(In case this is needed…I have compassion for infertility. But the truth is it is not NEEDED.)

Rain X windshield repair. DIY baby!

Got a dime size chip recently.
Called the local windshield guys who are usually reasonable with pricing.
They wanted $90 to fix a chip.
They only charged me $240 to replace my driver side glass a couple years ago…
Needless to say I thought $90 was steep.

So $12 and about 45 minutes yesterday is what it cost me to do it myself.

The resin did fill the chip and the two little spider legs are gone. There is a dime size circular mark remaining but appears to have filled well and the wiper isn’t going to get chewed up any more.

Recommend the product and I still have most of the resin and the rest of the kit in case I get another rock chip.

Listening to Kate Scot call play by play for the Seahawk Browns game

This would’ve the first local I’ve caught in a few years. Apparently she started calling last year. Is contracted for preseason I understand.

This is the first time I have heard a female call NFL play by play. She’s good too.

Any other local stations hire a female play by play? Would be fun to know.

Ya know you should probably go back to bed when you put coffee beans in the grinder, sugar in the cup, water in the dispenser and end up with sugar water
....cuz ya never ground the beans and put them in the basket. 🙄🙄🙄

At work last night

Had a group of six adults and two children.
I figured out quick they hadn’t been to my bar or Seattle. Super sweet people too. Asked my name and called me by it throughout like we were long time buds.

I didn’t have a lot of time to chit chat as I run the place alone. But did get to ask where they were visiting from.

Minnesota!

I smiled real big and said. I like your governor. We all grinned real big then, thumbs up and had a moment. No other words needed actually.

Donald Trump announced Monday Ohio junior U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate in the 2024 Election, and I have some concerns.

Like J.D. Vance, I am also 39 years old; I also grew up in a struggling old industrial city in Ohio; I have also lost countless people close to me to the scourge of drug addiction; and I have also spent a lot of time in Appalachia — although my time was spent as a reporter in the Ohio foothills of Appalachia covering poverty, education, crime, courts, transportation, health care, business, and labor for nearly a decade.

Where does one begin? Perhaps 2016 when Vance first launched into the national spotlight with his memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy.” The memoir part of the book I found interesting and sad and heartbreaking on the level of all the other stories I have witnessed, heard, and reported on about childhood traumas passed down in families struggling with poverty.

Then there was the other part of his book, the diagnosis and prescription part, that I couldn’t understand or relate to: A certain seething contempt and scorn for the people of Appalachia and the Ohio “rust belt,” as though their struggles were the result of deep personal character flaws and a lack of bootstrapping, and not predictable consequences wrought by growing up poor in a region wracked by exploitation, stuck in cycles of generational poverty, and mired in the kind of desperation that accompanies these things.
