It simply blows my mind how some of you can still ask why this is happening. Maybe...just maybe, people are fed up with the intrusive, invasive, insidious, creeping presence of Islam trying to push it's ways on the world. These people are ready to start fighting fire with fire. Radical islam is reaping what it has sown. You can dislike it all you want, you can act all incredulous and dumbfounded, but these are the facts.

Life is offensive !

January 11, 2015

fred....

You just can't handle it can you, the fact there are now two tribes on the liberal side of this issue can you ?

Most are still being apologists for islam (religion) like yourself, and the others accept the reality that the radicals of the religion are farmed from it's moderates by it's extremist divisive preachers who instruct their followers to act literally on the violent hate filled passages in the quran . That's a fact fred and you can't make it go away any more than you can make the quran itself go away. As for the fact of the shop owner being muslim, so what, it's not like he was made by any "god" do what he did, he acted as a decent human being should completely of his own cognizance. He acted good for goodness sake in the heat of the moment, even though later he may later credit it to "god" himself. It wasn't even about the shoppers being jewish, it was about them being human. (The same go's for the police officer who died needlessly, she was doing her duty, and was a decent person).

Who did act violently in the name of their god/faith/religion in this situation fred ?

Heres a great point on Religious moderates you may have heard before, or maybe not:

" Religious moderates also tend to imagine that there is some bright line
of separation between extremist and moderate religion. But there isn’t.
Scripture itself remains a perpetual engine of extremism: because, while
He may be many things, the God of the Bible and the Qur’an is not a
moderate. Reading scripture more closely, one does not find reasons to
be a religious moderate; one finds reasons to be a proper religious
lunatic—to fear the fires of hell, to despise nonbelievers, to persecute
homosexuals, etc. Of course, anyone can cherry-pick scripture and find
reasons to love his neighbor and to turn the other cheek. But the more
fully a person grants credence to these books, the more he will be
convinced that infidels, heretics, and apostates deserve to be smashed
to atoms in God’s loving machinery of justice."

~Sam Harris~ From: 'Letter To a Christian Nation'

PS.
As for the Fear mongers on FOX News and National Review Online who are also inciting things with ACTUAL racist agenda's, and patent lies, stirring up christian zealotry....fuck them.... they aren't helping damn thing, everyone here knows that even me.

January 10, 2015

Absolutley ,thank you....

Yeah what exactly does his Religious identification have to do with it anyway?

He made the decision to act morally and save lives, it wasn't Islam. In fact no morality is bestowed upon you by a religion or a god of any kind .You are a human, who makes your own choices to act as a benfactor, selfishly, or maliciously. Those choices come from within your own person and define who you are. Yet, here we have just another thread of DU apologists who are refusing face the reality that RELIGION is actually to blame here, and many other places(boko haram). If there is any "narrative" here on DU about relgion in general(yet especially to Islam), it's one of blind apologetics and capitulation. Time to get real DU !
January 10, 2015

YOU ARE WRONG KMOD !

I'm not afraid to tell you about it either. Stop with the spineless apologetics and wake up to the reality we're actually living and ... dying in.

The religion , which is Islam and it's followers, muslims, is based on a "holy" book called the Quran. Not all Muslims are radicals go's without saying , yet how many more headlines with innocent lives lost have to be made by the radicals in it before it will finally sink into your head that Radicals are farmed from moderates by hardline Imams who advocate and teach the Quran literally.

This here is in their 'holy' book, which unfortunately, wether they liketo admit it to it or not, DOES get taught by most to be taken literally:

* Quran (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered/killed or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"

This verse, among many others, in the quran advocates the killing of unbelievers, is the evidence that These Terrorists attacks ARE indeed about the religion. So any of you who like to pretend otherwise are fooling yourselves on the most self-deluded level possible.

Wake up and smell the jihad apologists ! You need to stop capitulating to the religion as a whole when it's at least as guilty for not Unilaterally putting forth fruitful efforts to curb the behavior of the radicals within it. I will not give any quarter until that happens, but i won't holding my breath obviously.

Bill Maher said it best on Jimmy Kimmel the other night:

The Transcipt:

JIMMY KIMMEL, HOST: A terrible thing happened today in Paris.

BILL MAHER: Yes. Tell them.

KIMMEL: People were killed. I know a lot of people are on vacation so maybe they don't know what's going on.

MAHER: You're the host so you have to tell them the bad news.

KIMMEL: The bad news is cartoonists, journalists, some other people, a police officer were killed in Paris.

MAHER: This was really big sh*t.

KIMMEL: Yes, especially in our business in particular. Especially in your business in particular.

MAHER: Right. And we have to not avoid who did this. Who did this, Jimmy?

KIMMEL: Well, we presume, and I think it's safe --

MAHER: No, no, it's not a presume. No, no. It's Muslim terrorists.

KIMMEL: Yes, Muslim terrorists.

MAHER: This happens way too frequently. It's like Groundhog Day, except if the Groundhog kept getting his head cut off. And let's also give some credit to this newspaper. This was a satirical newspaper in Paris. These guys have the balls of the Eiffel Tower. Their balls were bigger than Gérard Depardieu, because they kept doing it.

KIMMEL:Their were firebombed, their offices were firebombed.

MAHER: Absolutely.

KIMMEL: They continued. The editor said he would rather die than change with his right to free speech.

MAHER: For the crime of being satirists, for the crime of drawing cartoons. This has to stop, and unfortunately, a lot of the liberals, who are my tribe, I am a proud liberal

KIMMEL: He's about to turn on you, so.

MAHER: No, I'm not turning on them, I'm asking them to turn toward the truth as I have been for quite a while. I'm the liberal in this debate. I'm for free speech. To be a liberal, you have to stand up for liberal principles. It's not my fault that the part of the world that is most against liberal principles is the Muslim part of the world.

There have been studies. We have facts on this. Treatment of women. They studied 130 different countries. 17 of the bottom 20 were Muslim countries. In 10 Muslim countries, you can get the death penalty just for being gay. They chop heads off in the square in Mecca. Well, Mecca is their Vatican City. If they were chopping the heads off of Catholic gay people, wouldn't there be a bigger outcry among liberals? I'd ask you.

So to bring it home to us, because we are are satirists, and I'm a satirist who deals with this subject particularly, it's kind of scary, that some people say you cannot make a joke. That's off-limits. We saw this with Kim Jong-un...

We have to stop saying when something like this that happened in Paris today, we have to stop saying, well, we should not insult a great religion. First of all, there are no great religions. They're all stupid and dangerous. And we should insult them and we should be able to insult whatever we want. That is what free speech is like.

There are certain people in the world who want waivers on free speech. Kim Jong-un in North Korea says you cannot make jokes about our country, and there's a lot of Muslim people in the world. I know most Muslim people would not have carried out an attack like this. But here's the important point. Hundreds of millions of them support an attack like this. They applaud an attack like this. What they say is, we don't approve of violence, but you know what, when you make fun of the prophet, all bets are off.

KIMMEL: You really think hundreds of millions of Muslim support this?

MAHER: Absolutely. That is main stream in the Muslim world that when you make fun of the prophet, all bets are off. You get what's coming to you. It's also main stream that if you leave the religion you get what's coming to you, which is death. Not in every Muslim country in majority numbers, but this is a problem in the world that we have to stand up to.

And again, I'm the liberal in this debate. I was brought up in a liberal family. The reason we were liberals is because we were against oppression. I was a little kid when my father told us, we're with Kennedy and against the Southern Governors who stand in the doorways and don't let black kids go to school. And all my life I've been for people who have been the downtrodden, the oppressed, the minorities. I've been for blacks, gays, women, Mexicans, the bully, whoever it is.

islamic apologist's be like.....

"Stop painting ALL muslims with a broad brush!!"

(False: it go's without saying that not all muslims are radical terrorists, Lamest argument ever, shut up with that already.)

"We can't be sure it was an Islamic radical group yet, wait for the facts."

(False: Yes WE CAN ! It was definitely Islamic terrorists.)

"Only Racists are against Islam"

(False equivocation: A religion is not a race, any more than an apple is an orange)

" You have to prove that the majority acts of terrorism these days are perpetrated by Muslims "

(Easy Odds there: When was he last time any other group of religious extremists hell bent on mass murdering people for drawing their prophet ? How many people have they killed now for this very asinine reason ? It isn't the first time, and probably won't be the last. How many other completely irrational, misogynist terrorist crimes do Extremist versions of islam perpetrate on their own, and other people than any other ? You can easily bet that whatever the final ratio is it's going to heavily favor islamic terrorists.

" Leave Islam ALONE !!!! "

(NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!: The *quran is where these murderers get the ideas in the first place, so... NO..WE WON'T, not until a majority of **muslim countries, their clergy, and most importantly their common people come together and show they will, unilaterally, crack down HARD on the barbaric practices of the MANY, MANY extremists within it. They Must demand reform in Islam itself so that anyone caught literally acting on the violent verses in the quran will be dealt with immediate ridicule and/or excommunication, made to stand trail and to be judged by bias free secular laws for their crimes, No Sharia for them ! zero exceptions.)

Quran (8:59-60) - "And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can outstrip (Allah's Purpose). Lo! they cannot escape. Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy."

No reasonable person who is peaceful will act literally on these. Furthermore why would any reasonable person even want to practice this or any religion with these malicious things written in their "holy" book, which their "GOD" demands they follow ?

** Interestingly enough El si-si calls for reform against radicals in Islam : http://www.commdiginews.com/featured/egyptian-president-el-sisi-seeks-enlightenment-reform-in-the-islamic-world-32819/#2EQkhhbohYVQQTKE.99

It happens.... a LOT.

I'd think anyone a fool if they are actually suggesting that this doesn't ever happen, Especially in America. There are more radical ( yeah there's that word again) christian evangelicals than ever showing up outside of entertainment events hollering thier "JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY REPENT" crap. Brandishing signs, accusing everyone coming and going of every sin they can list on their silly signs. I recently went to Dave Chappelle's stage show and these kooks were out there pushing their holier than thou noise in everyone's faces, waving bibles tauntingly, the whole fire and brimstone indignation. They even had made street sign toppers that said "Retribution Way", I think I was probably the only one to notice it ( I think that could be illegal actually). I... like most in line with me, laughed at them heartily, but some people can actually be intimidated/shamed and leave because of it, and that is wrong.

I've also seen them at just about any rock band, or secular comedian, or anything they don't think is wholesome. Let's not even mention Westboro Baptist Church and all their hate crimes in the name of "god". I know some people like think these some of these same kinds of behavior aren't happening with evangelical radical Islamic groups in Europe, but they are, they so are, and there's plenty of video proof of it all over the internet, all but few clicks on google will most certainly reveal from multiple sources.

Another point that needs to be made clear is that a Religion IS NOT a Race, that is a False Equivocation fallacy. So I'm sorry but no one gets to use the race card on it anymore to dishonestly accuse someone of being racist for pointing it out. There is definitely a difference between a radical and common practitioner in any religion if anyone likes to think so or not. Cosmicone has it spot on above with this:

"The problem comes from some people believing that their way is superior, other people's ways are inferior and the other people should be forced to believe as they do".

As long as that sort of mentality is allowed to persist in humanity no progress will ever be made towards any kind of peace.

False Equivalence: stop using it as an excuse.

Why must so many people confuse a race with a religion ? ? ?

There seems to be an intentional use of this 'False Equivalence' by so many to dishonestly accuse someone of being racist, when they know very well that race has nothing to do with it.

Many muslims are Arabic, some are from Iraq, some are from Denmark, some are immigrants, some are white, some are black, some are American, some are Chinese, they can even be combinations of all these, or others. All of these practice islam so there is absolutely no need, or rationale to equate their nationality, race, or ethnicity to their spiritual or religious beliefs. Some people like to take advantage of this fallacy in order to insist otherwise, and often have their own divisive political, religious, or racist motivations to insult, degrade, or otherwise deride others for calling attention to this fact. I'm sure this also happens with other religions/races/nationalities in similar contexts. Just because you practice a certain religion does not mean you are necessarily a certain race and vice-versa. So please take time to understand the difference, and stop comparing apples to oranges, and oranges to onions. You already know better.

Du can hide if they like, My point is solid.

It has less to do with race..... than it has to do with a sect of people pushing a violent, brainwashing dogma. In no way do i think ALL Muslims are like this, nor have i ever suggested it, because that would be intolerant. But I will, without hesitation, point out the radicals as I see them they present themselves. The righteous indignation, and capitulation to any view that would seem to oppose islam in any way here on DU is completely lopsided. People here seem to have to be reminded there is succinct difference between a standard muslim who actually despises all the violent dogma espoused in the quran and would rather die than be seduced by the radicals that do practice it literally word for word. The problem is many of them do die for it, and many not willingly.

These snake headed Imams are nothing but cobra's spiting venom under the guise of tolerance and fairness (and they are obviously influencing state/social policies very well in this way) . It is THEY who are largely responsible for the violence that may occur If even one man in that crowd is ever involved in a stoning, or an honor killing, or some other from of traditional radical islamic barbarism. The more they are subjected to this sort of group think the more likely it is for something tragic to occur. If anyone on DU has a problem with that you know what to do.
