This is why we need Unions

I looked up average household incomes for the years 1980 and 2013
Then I looked up average home prices for the same years

The average home sold for $47,200 in 1980
The 1980 median family income of $21,020

The average home sales price is $436,800 2023
The average median household income in the United States was $67,521

Homes cost 2.25 x annual income 1908
Homes cost 6.47 x annual income 2023

**these are averages and can be different depending on where you get your information. For constancy I used the same sources for comparison.

I sometimes do the same for cars, appliances etc
American workers fall further and further behind every year
It is no wonder why homelessness is on the rise

I believe that as income disparity increases social unrest and poverty increases.
Income equality is a matter of national security.

My husband died today

Back when covid started he was set to begin a new cancer trial. It did not happen so for his safety he continued on an oral chemo at home. I have no doubt that this shortened his life. I am not stupid nor am I kidding myself he lived a very long time beyond his projected life span and I am grateful for it. I also know that Covid was not helpful. Video appointments are not optimal when dealing with cancer but going in would have been worse. Because he had cancer in his lungs we needed to protect him. We did the best we could.

I am sure there are many like us who lost precious time because of the unaccounted for ramifications of covid.

Covid Vaccine at -- WALGREENS

I work at a Walgreens and hope that this does not get me in trouble but based on the number of calls and even tears I deal with every day I hope that this will help.

1)This is not official from the company just my experiences helping people

2)People need to step up and help older & less tech savvy people sign up.

3)You can sign up online but personally I think the app is easier

4)Download the app

5) At the top of the first page it says "Covid -19 Vaccine Update"

6)click on it and there are links to information 'find appointment' and 'sign up for updates'

7)find appointment if there are appoints available in your area a green box will appear and say how many appointments are available in your area and direct you to screening questions.

8)if you are both eligible and there are appointments you can make an appointment right away

*****Tips that may make it go even smoother****
-Create an account IN THE NAME OF THE PERSON LOOKING TO GET THE VACCINE (I am not completely sure a separate accoun
needed for each person but it does seem to be easier to do it this way particularly when someone is signing up multiple people.)
-you can print a copy of the consent form and fill it out before the appointment which may speed it up for you
-wear a mask to appointment

Finally PLEASE be kind to staff. We are doing our best. It is not as simple as taking your name and giving a shot. We need to process quite a bit of paperwork tracking type and lot numbers of each vaccine, bill health providers, do multiple checks to make sure the right person is getting the right vaccine, draw up the vaccine, clean, clean clean and DOCUMENT everything.

We are doing our best but can only immunize as many people as we have vaccine for and this is not easy to predict days in advance. We want to immunize everyone and will not play favorites nor can you pay more to get it faster. If you make an appointment but decide to not go let us know so we can make sure someone else gets it.

U.S. to deploy troops to help with Saudi Arabia's defense

Source: CBS news

President Trump has approved the deployment of U.S. forces to Saudi Arabia that will be defensive in nature, top military officials said Friday.

After meeting with the president, Defense Secretary Mark Esper and Joint Chiefs Chairman Joseph Dunford informed reporters at the Pentagon about the provision of military support to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Now I know why Twitter banned me for posting many links about Donnie being saved by the Saudis.

Was Looking of a good film to see with the family today.

Then I saw that my local Showcase was playing this...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unplanned

Now I am angry and am trying to find a movie theater that I can make my go to theater. Unfortunately all a a lot farther away. I did not mind too much when they play those silly god films they were a joke; this is infuriating. Maybe I'll give up going at all and only rent what I want to see in my own home.

Military Health System

I'm not sure if this is the best place for this but....

The closest thing we have to single payer health coverage is the military health care system. I have been using this system for almost 33years and for the most part I love it. But...
-whenever the presidency changes there are a lot of changes to military health care
-under Regan it was ok for active duty worse for dependents and even morse worse for retirees
-2 years into Bush I it improved a wee bit
-2 years into Clinton improved A LOT
-was fairly stable until..
-2 years into tRump and he is butchering it
-ended over the counter medication program at pharmacies
-tricare shakeup = more red tape (not a disaster)
-now the cuts at military health clinics are disastrous I am seeing massive numbers of civilian providers let go, military staff (docs on down) being told they must transfer but there are no open billets so it is starting to look like forced retirements & force out of the military. Not because of lack of need. They are forcing patients out and into civilian health programs. They are saying preventative care & pre existing conditions will be covered. Word it this is only temporary & new conditions will NOT be covered. The prevailing opinions I'ms hearing is it is to prove government health does not work and to pay for the wall.

The military most defiantly does not like tRump and this is pissing them off more.

When people use racism as an excuse for bad behavior it hurts everyone.

This summer my son works as a park ranger; it is his job to oversee a beach/picnic area and enforce the posted rules. Today a woman brought her dog to the park even though it is clearly posted that dogs are not allowed. He hates having to tell people that they can't bring their dogs beyond the parking area even more than he hates having to clean the bathrooms because he loves dogs more than people. Unfortunately, the lady was of the opinion that the rules do not apply to her. She told him she brings her dog there all the time. He said he was sorry but it was his job to enforce the no dogs rule. She then started to yell at him and say that he was a racist and he would allow her dog if she were white. While he tried to explain that if she did not remove her dog he would have to call his boss.
While this was going on a white woman showed up with her dog. So my son went to her and explained the not dog rule. This lady said that because the black lady had a dog she should also be allowed to have her dog. He told her no one was allowed to have a dog on the beach.
He radioed his boss and asked for assistance. While waiting another group of people tried to bring their dog. Once again he explained the rules and was attacked (verbally). The black woman was calling my son a racist who was harassing her because of her race; the white woman saying he was letting the black woman stay because of her race.
Fortunately his boss arrived with 4 other rangers and evicted all of them because my son is on the autism spectrum and he was starting to have a panic attack. Hours later he is still anxious and is afraid to go back to work because he has been a strong supporter of Black Lives Matter and other civil rights issues.
In his opinion they should allow dogs but ban people. People are more rude. More aggressive. Dogs make less of a mess and no dog has ever accused him of being a horrible person.

Donald Trump is citing a positive poll that doesn't appear to exist

On Sunday night, as the political world was wondering whether he might offer a more fulsome celebration of the life of John McCain, President Donald Trump instead tweeted this:

"Over 90% approval rating for your all time favorite (I hope) President within the Republican Party and 52% overall. This despite all of the made up stories by the Fake News Media trying endlessly to make me look as bad and evil as possible. Look at the real villains please!"
