ICE resumes deportations from FLETC

Source: Alamagordo daily news

""ICE Health Service Corp. personnel have been clearing residents who have immunity to chicken pox, such as those who have already had the disease, or have been fully immunized through vaccination," the statement said. "Once medically cleared, residents who have a final order of removal and a valid travel document may be repatriated."

Speaking at an event in Bernalillo, Gov. Susana Martinez said the immigrants have been given "full due process" and have had time to make their case.

"They get to go to court and argue their position in Artesia," she said. "And the court is deciding whether or not they have any kind of reason to stay in the United States, such as any kind of asylum or whether they get deported."

The governor's remarks run in contrast to those of some volunteer attorneys who said federal officials weren't allowing immigrants to have access to proper legal representation. "

Finding better ways to fight superweeds

"At a time when soil erosion is recognized as one of the biggest threats to the world's ability to continue feeding itself, it's disturbing to now see U.S. weed scientists suggesting tillage to address invading "superweeds."

There is no question addressing the lengthening list of weeds that have developed resistance to glyphosate must be a top priority for researchers and extension agronomists advising conventional farmers.

As reported by Reuters, resistance to glyphosate has now reached the point where row-crop farmers in the Midwest are unable to control weeds such as Palmer amaranth infesting their fields, prompting weed scientists to suggest farmers resort to tillage.

These weeds were a problem limited to the deep south a few short years ago, forcing farmers in Arkansas to resort to hands and hoe to bring them under control. They are now "exploding" in the Midwest, Dallas Peterson, a weed specialist with Kansas State University, was quoted in a Reuters article.

Roundup Herbicide 125 Times More Toxic Than Regulators Say

"The Test Method and Results

In order to ascertain the toxicity of various chemical formulations and their ingredients, the researchers used embryonic (HEK293), placental (JEG3), and hepatic (HepG2) human cell lines, "because they are well characterized and validated as useful models to test toxicities of pesticides, corresponding to what is observed on fresh tissue or primary cells." They noted, "these cells lines are even in some instances less sensitive than primary cells, and therefore do not overestimate cellular toxicity."

The researchers describe the their method of determining toxicity:

We assayed their mitochondrial succinate dehydrogenase (SD) activity (MTT assay) after 24h pesticide exposure, which is one of the most accurate cytotoxicity assays for measuring the toxicity of pesticide adjuvants such as surfactants [26]. Cytotoxicity was confirmed by the measurement of apoptosis and necrosis, respectively, by caspases 3/7 activation [27] and adenylate kinase leakage after membrane alterations [28]

The results of the study were clear. Except for one pesticide (Matin), "All formulations were cytotoxic and far more toxic than their APs [active principles]."

Key findings included:

On human cells, among the tested products, fungicides were the most toxic (Figure 1), being cytotoxic from doses 300–600 times lower than agricultural dilutions, followed by herbicides (except Matin) and then insecticides.
In all cell types, fungicides were the most toxic (mean LC50 12ppm).
The herbicide Roundup (LC50 63ppm) was next in toxicity to fungicides, twice as toxic as Starane, and more than 10 times as toxic as the 3 insecticides, which represent the less toxic group (mean LC50 720ppm).

French TV Shows More Evidence of Hamas Hiding Behind Civilians

"As the dust settles amid a 72-hour ceasefire between Israel terrorist groups in Gaza, more and more reports are emerging from Gaza backing the Israeli government's claims that Hamas is deliberately carrying out attacks from within densely-populated civilian areas.

Earlier Tuesday an Indian TV report exposed terrorists setting up and launching a rocket just meters away from a hotel where members of the international media were staying, in the middle of a crowded residential area.

Like the tiny handful of other journalists who have defied Hamas orders not to report anything negative about them, the NDTV report was only aired after the news team had left the Gaza Strip and were free from any risk of intimidation or worse at the hands of Hamas's security forces.

Now, a France 24 TV journalist - who famously ducked for cover during a live interview when a Hamas rocket was fired right next to him - has also gone on the record to report how the rocket which caught him off guard was launched in a crowded civilian area and right in front of a UN building."

The Dangerous Nexus Between Radicalism in Britain and Syria’s Foreign Fighters

"In the last few months, the United Kingdom has seen an intensified wave of online radicalism within its borders, particularly by British nationals advocating violent jihad. Combined with the substantial and growing cohort of British fighters joining combatant groups in Syria, this trend could portend a real change to the threat the country faces from jihadists.

Propaganda campaigns against the UK have increased considerably, whether on jihadi forums or social media platforms. This is being manifested through a profusion of messages circulating the jihadi web platforms, and may serve as an indication that Britain is on the agenda of violent jihad.

Extremists who selectively interpret Islamic scripture and issue religious rulings declaring jihad, defined as a call for violence against both non-Muslims and Muslims they deem ‘inferior’, have ramped up threatening rhetoric on jihadi forums and social media platforms. The United Kingdom, home to a large Muslim population, has lately become on the target list of terrorists advocating violence and bloodshed.

The UK has been on high alert, fearing a resurgence in Islamist terror attacks since homegrown Islamist hardliners started ‘migrating’ to the Syrian battlefield to participate in a holy war against the supposedly apostate and infidel regime of President Bashar al-Assad."
