TY to whoever gave me the hearts.

I do more reading than posting here so I really was not expecting hearts and appreciate your kindness.

What happened to curtesy and manners in this country?

I had to have a steroid shot in my spine yesterday at the local hospital, a recurring thing. A couple months ago when I had to have a sonogram done, I noticed a note posted by the check in desk. It basically said: We do not call people in the order of when they arrived. We have many specialty rooms in this department and we call in the order that a technician becomes available for the procedure you need done. Please do not confront the receptionist or cause a scene in the waiting room if you are not called immediately." Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Then a couple weeks later, I went for routine bloodwork. The same type of notice was posted there.
Yesterday I arrived and was checked in at Ambulatory Surgery. When I was called in for the pre workup, I was given something I had to read and sign. It was a list of things I would not be allowed to do while in the office. Do not be verbally abusive to staff. Do not be physically abusive to staff. Do not attack or throw things at staff. and so on and so forth. It then said if I did anything of the sort, law officers would be called and I would be charged. Do you understand this as you have read it. I then had to sign it. It was like being read my rights before arrest.
Is it like that everywhere now? I am 80 years old and I have never physically assaulted a doctor or a nurse in my life when they were trying to help me. Nor have I thrown things at staff in restaurants or airports or on planes. Am I the only one that feels this started when the tarnished gold idol became president? How can our society work if people all think they are more important than everyone else? Or that you have the right to attack if you don't get your own way in everything? It saddens me that my grandchildren and great grandchildren will have to deal with this sort of crap.

If you get a phone call or Email from CVS pharmacy claiming they have a prescription ready for you

HANG UP OR PUT IN TRASH. I received one of the calls. Since I don't deal with CVS, I googled it.
CVS Pharmacy will never call and request this type of information from our customers. Do not provide personal information to anyone you do not know. Never provide credit card or other financial information to unsolicited callers.

I know what I would like to do to these thieves and it isn't pretty. Or legal.

I realize people that post here are pretty savvy but many of us have elderly loved ones or neighbors etc.

I liked the old DU a lot more than this new one

It was much easier to navigate for one thing. I will still visit here but will probably miss posts I would not have missed before. I know my opinion does not count for much but just felt compelled to voice it anyway.

Jim Jordan Speaker Candidacy Roils Ohio State Wrestling Community

Source: Sports Illustrated

The trauma was compounded by a sense of betrayal. Wrestler after wrestler recalled complaining about Strauss to the head coach, Russ Hellickson, and to Jim Jordan, a onetime wrestling star in Wisconsin who served as OSU’s assistant coach from 1986 to ‘94.

In some cases, the wrestlers can recount specific dialogue with striking exactitude. Dunyasha Yetts, an All-American wrestler in the ’90s, recalls complaining to Jordan that he saw Strauss about a thumb injury and stormed out of the room when the doctor attempted to pull down his shorts. Yetts recalls Jordan saying that if Strauss ever approached him in a sexual manner, he’d “kill him.” Dan Ritchie, another wrestler, says he was present when Jordan was informed of abuse from Strauss. Jordan’s response: "If he did that to me, I'd snap his neck like a twig of dried balsa wood."

In all, at least 11 former wrestlers—as well as a wrestling referee—have said the OSU coaches knew and chose to do nothing. Strauss would continue to go unchecked until the mid ’90s, assaulting athletes without consequence. Nick Nutter, an All-American OSU wrestler in the ’90s and a Strauss survivor, recounted to me in 2020, as I was reporting this story, that he and his teammates made a calculus before deciding whether to see the team doctor. “Is this injury bad enough that I’m willing to get molested for it?”

And it’s all the more reason he toggles between anger and confusion as he struggles to process Jordan’s defiant stance. “You have two presidents at Ohio State basically admitting [Strauss’s decades-long predation]. You have all this information. And you’re a congressman within the state of Ohio, where all that happened. And these are your athletes that you recruited,” says Schyck. “Well, guess what? We were harmed. And now you don’t want to do anything with that? I’m a wrestling coach now. I have athletes. All I want is to be there for them. It just baffles me to no end.”

Shapiro Administration Ensuring Local Fire Departments in Western PA Are Reimbursed by Norfolk

Shapiro Administration Ensuring Local Fire Departments in Western Pennsylvania Are Reimbursed by Norfolk Southern for Contaminated Equipment

Harrisburg, PA – The Shapiro Administration is working to ensure fire departments in Western Pennsylvania are reimbursed by Norfolk Southern for the costs of replacing all equipment contaminated during the response and remediation to the Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine on February 3rd.

Fire companies from Beaver, Lawrence, and Washington Counties responded to the derailment and the controlled vent and burn. While no fire departments are significantly impeded in being able to respond and serve the public at this point, many have reported contaminated turnout gear, hose, and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) along with some drop tanks for water supply operations.

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner have reached out directly to local fire departments and are working with them to identify and catalogue their damaged and contaminated equipment, and to streamline submissions to the Norfolk Southern Claims Director.

Neo-Nazi homeschool isn't breaking any laws: Ohio officials

The Ohio homeschoolers who are feeding Nazi propaganda to children are not doing anything illegal, according to Ohio Department of Education officials in a statement obtained by VICE News on Thursday.

"Logan and Katja Lawrence were unmasked ... as the operators of a neo-Nazi homeschool network with thousands of members, known as Dissident Homeschool on Telegram, by VICE News and the Huffington Post based on research from an anti-fascist research group called the Anonymous Comrades Collective," reported David Gilbert. "The Lawrences openly advocate white supremacist ideologies with the aim of making the children they teach, they’ve said, 'become wonderful Nazis.' Katja Lawrence said she initially started the group because she 'was having a rough time finding Nazi-approved school material for [her] homeschool children,' and has shared lesson plans that include Hitler quotes, pictures of a cake she baked for Hitler’s birthday, and a recording of her children saying 'sieg heil' in unison." Subsequent reporting found Logan Lawrence dressed in blackface in high school.

Ohio officials opened an investigation into the homeschoolers — but according to a new statement given to VICE News, the investigation has concluded with no action against the Nazi parents.

Has Hannah Walker called you about funeral expenses?

If so, you will love this video. If not, keep the link handy in case you do receive one.

I googled the name / funeral expenses because I got sick and tired of the daily calls.
