I wonder if he'll tell them how he "longed to serve in Vietnam."
Democrats demand policy specifics from Romney on foreign trip. posted Jul 23, 2012 1:03pm EDT
Romney aides have said the trip is for "listening and learning" and that the presumptive Republican nominee will shy away from making specific policy pronouncements on foreign soil. They said there will be other opportunities for policy speeches including his address tomorrow to the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Reno, NV.

(11,495 posts)I was drafted during the Vietnam war, my number was 10. I got lucky and ended up in Germany instead of Vietnam. I was always against that war, it was wrong, but I went when I was drafted. I hold no grudge for those who found a way out of that war, but when someone makes the comments Romney made, how he "longed to serve in Vietnam", yet got deferments so he would not have to go, well that pisses me off! He is a lying say of shit, we all know it, but if he really "longed" to be there, he could have gone, he did NOT HAVE to get deferments from the draft, and he could have joined. To lie like this is the hight of hypocrisy, and I sure hope someone tomorrow points that out to him.

(44,173 posts)So did Al Gore, believe.
Bill Clinton made no bones about opposing the war and pulled every string to not serve. I don't blame anybody for that.
Mitt Ramney supported the war and yet got deferments to go to France and propagate his religion.

(30,885 posts)It actually bothers me more than Cheney saying he "had other priorities." Cheney's was a raised middle finger, Romney's was "I would have gone if only I could have found a way." Says a lot about his character and we don't need that kind of person leading this nation.
