Even though polls show strong support for DACA support for "shutdown" to save it weak. Even though Democrats could use the budget and shutdown to leverage pass of DACA, shutting down the government would hurt Democrats more than Republicans.

Pervasive hate radio and actually biased MSM and both siderism blunt the Democrats ability to use that tactic. The GOP is able to use blind racism to push their anti immigration ideas.

If you want decent legislation you have to have Democrats in power.

I do not believe that the Democrats really caved. It is just that when the shutdown happened that the RW hate machine went on steroids. And the own a lot of the broadcast infrastructure. And the MSM was of little help because it was inclined to protect the GOP.

I am hoping that the GOP won't want the horrific optics of the deportation of essentially Americans young people in an election year. It is probably our only shot.
