There's actually an electronic item in there that makes sure you don't go past 186.
I have a ZX14R and have one of those too.
Only difference I never go more than 10% past the speed limit.

(23,973 posts)He was doing well in excess of 100mph, passing on the right, passing on exit ramps, driving recklessly, until he mis-judged a merging set of doubles coming down an on-ramp and drove directly into the tail trailer.
Good thing he was wearing a helmet.
His head snapped completely off his body, and they found it still inside the helmet a thousand feet further down the road.
People that do this with reckless disregard for other's lives should be charged with felony criminal endangerment.

(5,417 posts)If that guy was doing 150 on a race track, I would encourage him to go out there an have fun.
I would not try to limit motorcycles to 250cc because some people may drive a 750cc bike too fast

(24,853 posts)though. I guess his balls were too big.
I used to ride a Ninja back in the day and now cruise on a Road King and the thought of tossing the RK into corners like that takes my breath away.
Fumesucker
(45,851 posts)The motor sounded right on the camera bike and the scraping floorboards and whimpering tires were an authentic touch too.
My son in law had a RK, it's definitely a beast you don't want to be whipping through the corners.
Keep it shiny side up and rubber side down!

(23,616 posts)I've encountered a lot of those on the highway and you have no idea they are there until they are right up on ya. Not that I give a fuck if one of the idiots wipes out and spread their Darwin infused guts all over the highway, I just don't want to have to clean their shit for brains off my Jeep.

(29,414 posts)They aren't built like racetracks (and constantly maintained to those specifications), they aren't protected from wildlife wandering in, and they (usually) don't have any number of type and amount of road debris.
The other reason why this is just utterly stupid and reckless is that no matter how professionally skilled the driver, you simply cannot predict what unprofessional (and often quite unskilled) drivers are going to do.
I didn't bother to finish watching because I've almost had my own car clipped by these supremely stupid crotch-rocket assholes! While they obviously hold no regard for their own lives, I do value mine and those of my fellow drivers. Any wreck at that speed would kill anyone his bike hits as well as his body when it flies through an unprotected vehicle.
I really don't understand how crotch-rockets were ever allowed to become street-legal. They just aren't made for the public roads, and I certainly don't want to "share" the roads with them.
LadyHawkAZ
(6,199 posts)1) he is not keeping to his lane and 2) he is travelling too fast for the amount of traffic on the road, both of which create traffic hazards. He's going way too fast for the road conditions; this speed is better suited to a less heavily traveled highway outside of town. What a dipshit. Hope he at least had the sense to wear a helmet.
Why?
Zoeisright
(8,339 posts)And this is the dumbest post ever. If you think going that fast is "fun", that is just sad.

(20,317 posts)He slammed into the back of a car that was doing about 70. He had to be doing at least 120. He just launched right over the car, causing it to wreck, of course, and slid I don't know how far down the highway.
I see what you're saying here, by the way, and I think the responses are very interesting.

(25,592 posts)The speed limit on the curves were 35 or 40 MPH, depending which curve and which way.
I used to do double or more the speed limit through the curves on a regular basis. It was a good tension reliever.
The last time I did that, half way through, I realized I could not remember going through the last curve. My mind had wondered. The was the last time I could go through those curves at those speeds. I tried. Just couldn't it any more.
I don't have a bike anymore, but I do miss the horizon tilting back and forth sometimes. (Both foot pegs had scrape marks from going through turns.)
The only time I dumped it, I was taking it easy on a city street and a passenger shifted their weight half way through a turn at an intersection to look at something.
Another time I was on the interstate East of Bismarck and some bad boy on a rat going the other way was laying straight out, with his feet crossed on the handle bar pivot and his hands behind his head, resting on the padded sissy bar, just going down the road, doing the speed limit - 75 MPH or so. No helmet, as if that would make a difference, but he did have a bandana on his head for protection.
