I'm simply furious.

Rick Scott and the local police chief just finished a presser about today's school shooting in which they keep calling for prayer while assuring us that nothing can be done to prevent such tragedies.

We all know that something can be done. Can we stop all shootings? Of course not. Can we stop some, of course.

I used to think that there would surely come a point where enough people - children - had been killed, that something would be done. It's now clear to me that nothing will be done until We The People demand that something be done.

I am opposed to single issuer voters and political purity - but - enough is enough. If you're the only Democrat in an election, then yeah, I'll vote for you even if you resist gun regulation as the lesser of evils. However, if you want my money - or time - you have to support some kind of common sense gun law.

4. I'm not getting any calmer listening to Rachel interview a teacher.

No teacher should be hiding in a closet in a class room with her students hoping the police arrive before the shooter.

This teacher was obviously well trained - and her students were well trained - on how to respond to a shooter in a school - in a school.

I want politicians to tell me what they intend to do. If they don't have a plan, they don't have my money.

At the same time, it is amazing that schools now have active shooter drills. Is this really OK now in this country?

8. Back in the day, we had drills in school.

We had fire drills and tornado drills. I lived in Jackson, MS and those were the usual threats. In the Cold War era we had civil defense drills where we got in our cars on a Sunday afternoon and drove out to the edge of town. Like that was going to be a good plan in case of a nuclear attack. I never saw the movie “Duck and Cover” during my elementary school years but I am pretty sure there are other DUers who did.

What we never had and did not need was an active shooter drill. This has come about in more recent years. And our Congressional deadbeats (they are NOT leaders) do nothing. If anything they are complicit in this evil because they could do something and do nothing. They’re earning a special place in the Fresh Hell they deserve.

9. What I wish would happen when they are mouthing such platitudes

would no doubt get me banned, and might get me a visit from law enforcement of some kind.

I will just say this: there are chickens that need to come home to roost. Just think about it.
