They would be brazen enough to try to raise voting age to 25.

(10,437 posts)and like other groups, the more you try to suppress them, the more they will resist.
the fear is raging in republican circles as they may face a revolt of some/many of their big dollar donors who are sick of it and their soul selling to the NRA

(844 posts)I wish the assholes were crazy enough to try floating that idea: 1 it wouldnt work & 2 it might be the single best motivator to push a normally apathetic voting public to show up to polls.
Whats different about this group ( and why the GOP cant just suppress their vote) is that they arent already disenfranchised in the same way that their usual targets are. When they go after minorities their base cheers it because they hate us, and it often works against those of us on the lower income scale because we might not be able to skip work or pay for new IDs. Those are real barriers. But these kids are look to me to be in different circumstance. they are actually motivated and feel their voices WILL be heard. Which means they wont fall into the trap of getting discouraged. Thats the biggest factor in voter suppression that actually works. Plus when its a broader group that cuts across racial and socioeconomic groups there will be better defenses up to fight back against the idea because of course more people would be impacted.
