After doing a bit of my own research, it looks like there are some actual, real democrats running in this race:
https://ballotpedia.org/New_Hampshire%27s_1st_Congressional_District_election,_2018
Mark S. Mackenzie - State Rep.[10]
Deaglan McEachern[11]
Mindi Messmer - State Rep.[12]
Terence O'Rourke[13]
Chris Pappas[14]
Levi Sanders[15]
Lincoln Soldati[16]
Maura Sullivan
In my quick review, I've been most impressed with, in this order: Maura Sullivan, Mark S. Mackenzie, Terence O'Rourke, and Mindi Messmer. If I had to narrow it down at this point, I'd probably make it Maura and Mark, with Maura getting my contributions.
There's plenty of information at the link. Let's talk about who else is running, and see who to focus on.

NO one has won the district "comfortably" in the last six elections. If he wins comfortably it would be because the voters perceived him as a republican.
It disgusts me that a political neophyte, running on name only, would challenge other Democrats for a seat that is currently occupied by a Democrat. This will only create more division in the district and may all but guarantee a republican victory.

(58,785 posts)may just be reasons for running also, not just his desire to help working class people who are "beat up by the system." He has a BA in history (a plus for me) and does clerical technician work handling SS disability claims for a legal firm, so this would be a giant elevation from the white collar grind into the upper middle class for him, plus the status of course that would allow him to stand more appropriately alongside his dad.
I'd wish him well if he had what it takes to be a good congressman for his district, but those shabby tweets suggest he's already reached his level of competence. Big no to small minds and hearts asking voters to let them see if they can handle important public service that needs big minds and big hearts.

New opinion scrapped to see if he's as big a fool as others who were in the Sanders campaign, to be resumed if he is.
At this point in history, there is some very bad judgement going on in people who are unable to respect and admire, and be massively grateful for the existence of, the Democratic Party.
How could any progressive, capital or lower-case P, never have wondered what America would be today if the Democratic Party was even half as corrupt as his gadfly father has always so bizarrely claimed? If America had no party standing as a wall protecting our democracy against the massive corruption and betrayal of the people that's taken over the GOP?

(58,785 posts)And setting aside this singularly stupid string of tweets ascribed to him, it does seem he was then, when he was working in his father's campaign, one of those unable to see the Democratic Party clearly for what it is and the role it is playing in our history.
In any case, here's the part of a new WaPo article that touches on his twitter history. Interestingly, Bernie has not endorsed Levi.
The elder Sanders, who has made several trips to New Hampshire since the 2016 election, did not endorse his son. Levi will be running his own campaign, in his own way, with his own ideas, the Vermont independent said in a statement. The decision as to who to vote for will be determined by the people of New Hampshires first district, and nobody else.
But Levi Sanders inherited some of his fathers baggage animus from Clinton supporters who remain frustrated about the 2016 primary and its aftermath. Even before Sanders made the bid official, critics had compiled some of his tweets from the 2016 campaign, in which he warned that many on the left were too dismissive of Trumps appeal.
On Tuesday, Sanders said that he sent out a lot of tweets and was a big fan of the First Amendment, urging voters to look at his broader points.
The bottom line, as you know, is that different people have different opinions, and when you send out a lot of tweets, people are going to have a lot of opinions about them, Sanders said. But in 2016, I hung out in rural Pennsylvania and rural Ohio. I can tell you, very clearly, that in 2016, there were going to be some real problems with electing Hillary Clinton. I talked to union folks who were die-hard Democrats and said they would never, ever, ever vote for Hillary Clinton.
Asked about the tweets that pointed to Trumps appeal, Sanders said that Democrats had alienated some voters they did not need to when they made demographic assumptions about them instead of offering them populist economic ideas.
I think the reality is that you have to talk about the issues, Sanders said. Simply put, if youre a man or youre a woman, that shouldnt be a reason that somebody votes for you. You have to earn every vote. We need to reach out for working-class folks. We need a 50-state strategy. And the simple fact is we need to deal with economics and address the fact that the rich are getting richer while the middle class is getting squeezed. I think well find that a bunch of people agree with us.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2018/02/27/bernie-sanderss-son-levi-runs-for-congress-in-new-hampshire/?utm_term=.5276e6b3294c
I'm waiting for someone else to spend time figuring out which tweets are his from which year. This, and his most recent tweets, give a far less appalling picture, but still clearly a fool.
We know now, just for one example, that those famous white working class males left because they saw their white male privileges threatened. No excuses for them or for people who think we should have catered to their racism and misogyny. Or, as it sounds here, for a wannabe pol who still doesn't know what happened and why, or perhaps doesn't care if it doesn't fit his narrative of victimization by "the system."

Excerpts:
This was a sweetheart deal for Carina Driscoll, Jane Sanders daughter, said Moore. Driscoll is the stepdaughter of Bernie Sanders."
"Students began attending the woodworking school in 2009 on what appears to have been a handshake deal. A formalized contract was made only under Jane Sanders successor as president, Christine Plunkett. The lack of a written agreement raised questions from the colleges accrediting body, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, or NEASC."
"According to publicly available tax documents, the Vermont Woodworking School received more than $500,000 between 2009 and 2012 for materials charges and lease of bench space for Burlington College students who took furniture-making and woodworking design courses in a restored red barn in Fairfax."
"Lease payments were not the only costs Burlington College paid in connection with the woodworking school. The college also paid Driscoll, at various points, for administrative work and covered the salaries for some woodworking professors. The Vermont Woodworking School received roughly half of the tuition money for each student from Burlington College."

(3,910 posts)that many people in the working class were "FEELING"
Mein Kampf contains the blueprint of later Nazi propaganda efforts. Assessing his audience, Hitler writes in chapter VI:
"Propaganda must always address itself to the broad masses of the people. (...) All propaganda must be presented in a popular form and must fix its intellectual level so as not to be above the heads of the least intellectual of those to whom it is directed. (...) The art of propaganda consists precisely in being able to awaken the imagination of the public through an appeal to their "FEELINGS", in finding the appropriate psychological form that will arrest the attention and appeal to the hearts of the national masses. The broad masses of the people are not made up of diplomats or professors of public jurisprudence nor simply of persons who are able to form reasoned judgment in given cases, but a vacillating crowd of human children who are constantly wavering between one idea and another. (...) The great majority of a nation is so feminine in its character and outlook that its thought and conduct are ruled by sentiment rather than by sober reasoning. This sentiment, however, is not complex, but simple and consistent. It is not highly differentiated, but has only the negative and positive notions of love and hatred, right and wrong, truth and falsehood

Levi Sanders is running for a House seat in New Hampshire.
BY MEGAN FRIEDMAN
FEB 27, 2018
Bernie Sanders, Jane Sanders, Levi SandersGetty Images
Bernie Sanders son is following in his fathers footstepshes announcing his plans to run for Congress in New Hampshire. Levi Sanders is joining seven other Democrats and three Republicans in this year's race for the seat now held by Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, who is stepping down after her term ends.
The 48-year-old Levi currently works as a legal services analyst and has lived in New Hampshire for 15 years. Hes running to represent New Hampshires 1st Congressional District, though he actually lives in the states other district (thats legal under the Constitution). Sen. Sanders, meanwhile, is running for reelection in Vermont this year, and is considered a potential candidate for president in 2020
...
His past tweets are drawing scrutiny online.
Tweet threads from users Dean Barker and Aphra Behn have gone viral since Sanders candidacy was announced. The threads both post old tweets, purportedly from Levis account, that seemingly trash political dynasties, support the NRA, and oppose a law to remove the Confederate flag from Virginia license plates, among other controversial topics. Levi has not yet commented about his past tweets.

Wwcd
(6,288 posts)Sanders is the 'tea party' designed to destroy the left, the Democratic Party.
Just as the Koch's destroyed the Republican Party via their Tea Party.
It is the horseshoe theory of how to destroy a free society.
HERE:
SNIP
..And then there are the most sophisticated puppet masters of all: the billionaire Koch brothers.
In July 2015, President Trump tweeted, "I really like the Koch Brothers (members of my [Palm Beach] Club), but I don't want their money or anything else from them. Cannot influence Trump!"
They don't influence Trump -- they man his administration.
According to a report by Public Citizen, a progressive advocacy group, 44 administration officials come from Koch-backed organizations or political groups. EPA Administrator Pruitt has been heavily supported by the Kochs (including $3 million spent to boost his confirmation), as has Energy Secretary Perry (including tens of thousands of dollars in donations to his campaigns).
And Vice President Mike Pence has long been intertwined with the Koch operation, through funding and staff.
Among his many ties to the Koch network, Pence's former chief of staff, Marc Short (now White House congressional liaison) is a top Koch operative who also served as president of the Koch's Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce
https://www.democraticunderground.com/1016202034
Appears the KOCH plan to overthrough the US Govt is coming together nicely.
Now to get rid of those pesky free society thinking Democrats.......All they needed was a Sarah Palin for the Left.
Time to dust off those old scrolls of the John Birch Society Better study up on what's ahead for the KOCH Master Plan.
They've bought themselves a country and A LOT of people sold us out for a sparkling promise of free stuff.

(18,337 posts)Only for the 1% who have influential and powerful parents parents. For the other 99%, its a repercussion.

(1,399 posts)Yet not surprising. The tweet is attacking the threat, NOT the students calling for the end of the easy availability of high capacity semiautomatic rifles.
Primary is over. Party is moving forward.

In the real world, that is a serious repercussion.
Only the privileged would laugh off a three day suspension that could very well impact college acceptance or a scholarship or internship application.
Not everyone is an entitled "special exception" by virtue of their personal connections, and those who are need to learn what the world is really like for the 99%.

(1,399 posts)Laughing it off. He's supporting the victim. His current Twitter feed is 100% supportive of the students. Now I know that doesn't fit the agenda of Dean Barker and the rest of the folks who are still fighting the primary and their treasure trove of opposition research, but it's reality.

(12,448 posts)I honestly know nothing about the rest of them, but surely there are at least a couple of good, strong Democrats on that list who would be much, much better than Levi Sanders.
This is an unofficial list at this point:
Mark S. Mackenzie - State Rep.
Deaglan McEachern
Mindi Messmer - State Rep.
Terence O'Rourke
Chris Pappas
Levi Sanders
Lincoln Soldati
Maura Sullivan
Carol Shea-Porter - Incumbent is not running.

(17,139 posts)Grind this fucking loser into the dirt.
After doing a bit of my own research, it looks like there are some actual, real democrats running in this race:
https://ballotpedia.org/New_Hampshire%27s_1st_Congressional_District_election,_2018
Mark S. Mackenzie - State Rep.[10]
Deaglan McEachern[11]
Mindi Messmer - State Rep.[12]
Terence O'Rourke[13]
Chris Pappas[14]
Levi Sanders[15]
Lincoln Soldati[16]
Maura Sullivan
In my quick review, I've been most impressed with, in this order: Maura Sullivan, Mark S. Mackenzie, Terence O'Rourke, and Mindi Messmer. If I had to narrow it down at this point, I'd probably make it Maura and Mark, with Maura getting my contributions.
There's plenty of information at the link. Let's talk about who else is running, and see who to focus on.

(4,035 posts)Pointing that out is not purity police, it's being a Democrat. Now, if I had whined about him not wanting $15 minimum wage immediately, but rather from $12 to $15, that would be purity police. If I had lambasted him for wanting to restrict free college education to those who cannot afford it otherwise, instead of everyone including the Trump grandchildren, you would have a point. But I didn't. So this isn't being purity police, this is pointing out how Levi Sanders uses more time on attacking the Democrats and supporting the Republicans, how he scoffs at the very base of the party and is borderline, if not completely, racist. It has nothing to do with purity and everything to do with being a decent human being.

(3,635 posts)Both the alt-left and alt-right are retrograde movements that hold nostalgia for the New Deal era. Both groups have resentment towards civil rights which they view as identity politics that transformed 'their' Dem party and their way of life. Both hold a militant populist worldview, where a 'great leader' will save them from an elite oppressor who caused all of this 'mess' for them.
I think at some point the alt-left will join the Trumpers in the GOP, and the anti-Trumper Repubs will join Dems. Basically we're going to get some form of realignment in the next decade or so.
