(7,528 posts)So it's kind of a "duh" thing. This is why politicians need to divest from their companies which can benefit from their legislation. If you don't do that, you're a lobbyist.
They'd better not try to pull "Oh, he doesn't get paid so he's not actually on staff..."

(56,828 posts)I suspect we'll get actual laws that require divestment of any investments and holdings instead of things that were expected of presidents, as well as requirements about tax return release and emoluments.

(56,828 posts)somebody like Billy Beer would be a senior adviser to Trump and he'd be one of the more qualified ones.

(38,421 posts)I am willing to wait awhile. When Mueller gets the case "iron clad positive" he will indict. That is.. with the proof that he has, he will be sure of a guilty verdict. But this fellow will get them all...Why do I say that?
Mueller is better at ..getting them all than the grafter sare at grifting. You see, in my opinion, none of that crowd really know what they are up against. Two former leaders of the FBI (yes, I think Comey is trying to help in an informal way) and some of the best prosecutors in the country.
Yes, in the long run, the grifters haven't got a chance. Not a snowball's chance in the Sahara Desert.. When they go down, it will be hard. And they don't even know it is coming. Arrogance has its limitations as we all know.!!

(9,291 posts)can't imagine working for service. They are so greed based, that they believe anyone working in government can't be that good, because if they were they would be making millions like the smartest, best people do. Trump thinking, of course.
They are in for a wake up call, they don't even know these people exist but in a movie.
I guess Trump had to run for President, because after he won this was all predictable.

The MAGAts will be asking that question soon, I can assure you.

(5,269 posts)If Kushner was attempting to use his position for financial gain and failed to disclose his contacts or lied about his contacts, Mueller could charge him with engaging in conspiracy to defraud US.

(5,269 posts)But now we find out Kushner got half a billion in US bank loans after meetings in WH but that apparently was not enough to bail him out as he has been seeking deals from China, Turkey, OAE etc.
We already knew he had failed to disclose hundreds of millions from Deutsche Bank before being in WH with excuse that he didn't have a specified requirement to pay that money back to Deutsche Bank, so he had left it off his govt paperwork that asked about loans.

(10,021 posts)The answers to the questions posted in the OP above have been known for a while. The question is how much damage has been done, and how to lessen any more damage from what might come in the future. The country's credibility has already been severely damaged. This effects us both in the world, but also at home.
Can people ever trust elections, our legislative process, or our supposed superior system of checks and balances again? Do the donors controlling the purse strings really give a damn about anyone but themselves? And what about the influence of foreign governments? It was way too easy to go from a president like Obama to one like Trump. What the hell happened to this country???
