I tried to research...to no end. Are gun's steel imported?

I was trying to determine if the guns made in the US are manufactured with imported steel? Their costs are about to go up as well. I'm sure the Trumpeestas will love to pay more for their guns.

I imagine the steel is a very small part of gun manufacturer's costs. Girard442 Mar 2018 #4
Agreed, but you will likely find companies citing the increased price of steel Sherman A1 Mar 2018 #5
I think barrel stock and other steel components are of high-grade specialty steel made in USA. n/t John1956PA Mar 2018 #6

And in fact I’ll bet most domestic manufacturers don’t know or care, they order steel or they order parts from subcontractors and as long as it meets their specs they are happy.

Only exception may be the companies like Colt and FN that also do military contracts, the military contracts generally require domestic sourcing on raw materials whenever possible.

I was wondering .... won't the cost of all steel rise because of this tariff? Especially American steel?

I hope Trump's rubes are all OK paying lots more for their vehicles.

There's a lot of value* added there.

*Depends on how you defined "value", but you know what I mean.

to "offset" price increases. It's been in the news enough and will likely continue to be so they can hide behind this excuse to fatten the bottom line.

Boeing sells a LOT of airplanes and buys a LOT of aluminum from other countries. Those planes will cost a lot more to resell to other countries as well.
