This American Life tells the story of ongoing sexual harassment at Alternet by Don Hazen

Riveting long form reporting in interviews with several women, including the partner of Don Hazen, executive director of Alternet, serial harasser and abuser:

A different kind of #MeToo story, about several women who worked for the same man. They tell us not only about their troubling encounters with him, but also about their lives beforehand. Who were they when they entered the workplace, and how did their personal histories shape the way they dealt with his harassment?

Some background on the when the charges against Hazen became public in late 2017, concerning actions that went back to 2008:

Several Women Accuse Progressive Media Executive Don Hazen Of Sexual Harassment

who used his "progressive" cred to deny his own predatory, misogynistic behavior.

Employees who complained were told that they needed to "cover the quarterback" because it would give "the other side" ammunition.

The right does jump on it....but what is the greater 'evil' for the greater good. And what good is covering the 'quarterback' if he betrays his team?

It is critical that we draw attention to this sort of awful behavior, especially when it comes from so-called progressives.

We need to exterminate the view that women are second rate from our ranks, such a view is inconsistent with what we are and policies that we champion.

They believe that being considered "progressive" means that nothing they do is sexist or racist. This leads them to double down when it's pointed out to them.

It's like Roy Cohn saying that he wasn't gay, despite sleeping with men, because of what "gay" meant in his mind.

He wasn't gay because he didn't live the "gay lifestyle."

Amazing the creative logic people can come up with to make it possible to live with themselves.
