I say that because as I crank up the computer for the day, I keep waiting for the official beginning of the end to be announced - the end of this country's long and torturous nightmare. While impeachment is a possibility, it won't come while the GOcomPlicit owns all 3 branches. Trump was probably telling the truth when he said he could shoot someone in broad daylight and never be convicted - at least not so long as he had that executive pen in his other hand.

Closer to home is the hope that our own district nightmare - The DIShonorable Devin "Dipshit" Nunes finally spends some time amongst his fellow faithful DOLTS that have kept him doing corporate desires for WAY too long!

But yeah....... I'd love to wake up to a simple tsunami or a chemical weapons debacle. Maybe an African dictator's escape from a coup with his Cypress bank account flush with American aid dollars or video of Cliven Bundy grazing his cattle on the White House lawn! I'd be happy to trade ANY or ALL of those to see The Shithole Gang rounded up and stuffed in the same cramped cell - a well-worn bucket with one dipper for drinking water and another for a toilet. They'd also be allotted the quality of legal representation as we've extended the forgotten souls of Guantanamo.

It's not that the Democrats won't try - the GOP will aid and abet the malfeasance. If we LAST until the mid-terms, and the votes aren't "compromised", then I might just start to take an easy breath, and have an anxiety/panic attack free day.

The lucky ones are the trumpsters. They may be unhappy with leaks into their bubbles, defiant and angry that we don't respect their collective decision, but I don't know one who's lived with the fear we have since they pulled the national ceiling down on us.

Spring's coming fast, or perhaps already there? Things always look better to me when I'm outside enjoying.

I was just sorting through Spring/Summer clothes and found the gardening shirt my late sister gave me. It was the shirt she always wore when she did her gardening so when she gave it to me, I realized that she knew she was dying. She inspires me to keep putting one foot in front of the other, and carry on planting and harvesting - whether it be planting flowers and veg in the soil, or planting ideas and dreams in her granddaughter.

The main difference between W's administration and this one, I think, is that while Bush misused the institutions of government, Trump is actively trying to destroy them. As disgusted as I was with Bush I always figured that our fundamental structures would survive; I didn't think his administration - even including Evil Dick Cheney - posed an existential threat. W didn't scare me. Trump does.

Beginning on election eve was my bed

I have migrated to my IKEA rocker in the corner of the living room with a cheap massage.pad where I drink my morning coffee and cruise the net, usually starting with DU.

My morning mantra is “What mayhem has he caused today." I swear, it's like an abusive husband.

The other mantra, when I haven't checked the news in oh, say, an hour, is " Is he still President." With fervent hope...

I feed the cats, make a cup of coffee, park myself in my IKEA chair and check DU - wondering what craziness has already occurred before I got up. If I go offline for awhile I always figure something terrible has happened when I wasn't watching, and it usually has. CNN's "BREAKING NEWS" chyron seems to be permanent now.

I agree with a lot of the above, but we can't afford to give up. Sometimes I think they're trying to wear us down or split us up, and we have to realize it and not let it happen.

Geez, even Julius Caesar knew the principle of "divide and conquer." And it worked for him.

Mon Mar 5, 2018, 02:57 PM

I just got a lesson in that tactic this morning. My unharmonius commentary got me "divided" from the group. Once again. Once again I was whacked with a rolled up newspaper and reminded that we can only discuss the merits of BLUE flowers here. If you candidly let on that you like other hues (or shades of hues - light blue, indigo, turquoise ), you're outta here!

Don't believe me? Talk progressive - real progressive, not facade progressive. See what a choke chain feels like. I don't have a dog, but if I did, I wouldn't put a choke chain on it.

I'm seriously starting to think about leaving DU. It's winnowed down to a bunch of fanatics - quite different than it was when I first wondered in here 11 years ago. Besides, my leaving would be yet ONE MORE WIN for the Democratic party to add to their tally of dismissals in recent years.

Alert detector actuated!!!

36. Well, when any group gets this large,
Mon Mar 5, 2018, 04:59 PM
Mar 2018

there are bound to be sub-groups and sub-sub-groups.

Unfortunately, some people just can't accept a difference of opinion without taking it personally, or that other people have just as much a right to the First Amendment as they do. And from what I've noticed, right now we seem to be reverting back to a favorite pastime of the McCarthy era: looking under every bed for a Russian spy.

I just had a weird thought: we (as in Democrats) are convinced the Russians are behind the Republicans, but so far the Reps don't seem to point to anyone (except maybe G. Soros) as being behind us. I wonder what would happen if we (surreptitiously) started a rumor that extraterrestrials are behind the Democrats, that they want to overthrow the Reps in order to create a liberal, pacifist society that will be easier to take over without all the militarism and guns? Any bets as to how many Reps will buy it? What would Hannity and Alex Jones make of it? And what would Colbert, Meyers, et al. make of THAT?

In any case, we made it through the Nixon era. We'll make it through this one too.
