They had a deal and the senate changed it.
That is why the teachers are still on strike in West Virginia.
This encapsulates the republican party 1,000,000% imho

$6.9 million difference between 4% and 5%. That is NOTHING to the Rs. Take it from their NRA payments.

(2,315 posts)Good Faith Negotiations require honesty on both sides.
When a state-wide employee group is negotiating with the state's highest elected official, one assumes they are negotiating in "good faith."
When the state's highest elected official personally steps in to reach a settlement, the assumption is that s/he is negotiating in "good faith."
Either the governor was negotiating in "bad faith," or he did not have the legislative backing he thought he had.
In either case, TRUST HAS BEEN BROKEN.
The teachers should not return to work until the contract is passed and signed.

(82,849 posts)When they realized that they had effectively passed the bill sent to the Senate from the House, they had to call the bill back because they had forgotten to insert their "fuck you" clause. The Senate then passed a revised bill with only a 4% raise. So, as usual when you hear of some shit-ass thing Republicans did, it's always worse than what you first heard.
