The interview now with Erin Burnett makes this clear.

(5,240 posts)Why is he doing all of these shows? Any theories?
A-Schwarzenegger
(15,596 posts)More than one motivation. I think he is trying to protect Roger Stone, his idol, who Nunberg says quit in outrage after he (Nunberg) was treated so poorly (fired) by Trump. Plus he's a blatant asshole. All these guys are crooks who got away with mountains of shit before, so (they think) why should they be held accountable now?

(115,683 posts)Stone had some connections with Wikileaks, and he's an old ratf*cker from the Nixon Administration. So what does Nunberg know about Stone?

(50,949 posts)he has to follow the rule of law and why he should have to go through his emails: "I just thought of something! I could just give them my password."
Erin: "you'd give them your password?"
Poor man who was born without a brain: "Yeah, sure."
One of his big points was essentially that he didn't want to spend the time.

I'm not sure actually if we are thinking the same thing... but what I saw over and over was that repetition about "Stone is my mentor/father figure, and he did nothing wrong" - that seemed really bizarre.
Roger Stone is a veteran dirty tricks guy going all the way back to Nixon... read his wikipedia page, it's a nice refresher course.
Granted, he is a wacky mofo, but he has some 40+ years doing some really fucked up behind-the-scenes shit, and is connected to just about every douchebag on the right. He was involved in Watergate. He founded a firm with Manafort in the 80's. He was a lobbyist for Trump's casino biz in the 90's. He was campaign manager for Trump's Reform Party presidential bid. He's alleged to have been involved in multiple campaigns to split opposition votes over the years. He is neck deep in a ton of this shit, and has some powerful friends.
Nunberg is just some weird putz out of a 4th-tier law school. This whole series of interviews left me thinking "Roger Stone totally used this schmuck in some way, and will most definitely be throwing him under the bus."

(73,537 posts)is essential reading. And Erich Fromm's book on how psychopaths rise to power, and the supporters they tap, adds a lot. (Fromm is quoted by several of the contributors to Lee's book, too.)
I frequently compare notes on Trump et al with my old co-workers from the clinic. Everyone agrees. It's obvious. It's glaring.

(73,537 posts)Nunberg was spouting off about not being willing to testify against Stone. If Stone were innocent of wrong-doing, there would be no problem.
Stone is, of course, the "missing link" that Mr. Mueller has uncovered.
