If WV teachers accept the deal the legislature giving them a 5% raise

even tho that is what they asked for..I will be dissapointed. They should tell the legislature at this point to go fuck itself and hold out for 9%....also they should quit watching the kids for free. Make the parents franticaly scramble for daycare...that will hasten their demands quicker. It happened that way in Tacoma and it really made the strike resolve itself much quicker

I was an elementary school teacher and we were treated like glorified babysitters. I would've made twice as much babysitting (I did the math). I had two degrees, 5 different certifications, worked 50+ hour weeks, and was sick 75% of the time since parents were too cheap to get a sitter so THEY could go to work. My health has been permanently damaged due to it. We didn't get a raise or COLA for 5 years and were pink slipped every year while our health co-pays multiplied 4 times. And I was even a union rep!

I hope they hold out for as long as they can and not give an inch. UNION!!!!!

They did well and they did good. I love that they got the pay raise for all the state workers, not just themselves. Not only was that great for everyone, it also thwarts any Republican efforts to pit the various workers against each other.

Smart and good.

Because if they were to do what you suggest, their credibility would rightfully be shot.

They put out a number they needed. After squirming for over a week and offering less on several occasions the Governor and Legislator met their conditions.

If they were to now up the demands...they would rightfully lose all the sympathy they have with the people of West Virginia and might even risk having the republicans bust their union. If the politicians thought for a second that the people of the state were opposed to the teachers they would never relent. Eventually the teachers would cave. Mortgage and car payments don't you know.

I am in the process of buying land. The owner was asking. I met their price and put down the requested earnest money. If the sellor then tried to raise the price, both realtors would have dropped out of the deal because that is dirty dealing.
