Cruz also said that if the economy is booming and conservatives show up at the polls, his party could pick up as many as seven seats in the Senate and hold a large, functioning majority.

If conservatives are complacent, and mark my words, we are going to see historic turnout from the extreme left in November, which means if conservatives stay home, we have the potential, we could lose both houses of Congress.
If Democrats take control of the House, he predicted that Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) would become speaker again and immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against Trump.

(65,010 posts)And i'm not "extreme left". I'm just a guy who believes tax money should be used to help people who need help and that the government should enforce a level playing field. Apparently, that is an extreme view, even though it's obviously not.

(37,159 posts)1) Because that's what they think. Failure to cheerlead a conservative agenda is "liberal bias", and actively opposing it is "far left".
2) Because by painting opposition as extremists and fanatics, they fashion a veneer of reasonableness and normalcy to their own extremism and fanaticism.

The New York Times went to Ohio this week to talk with blue-collar voters for their views about the tax cuts the Republican Party passed last year, and many of them said the cuts arent adding up to much on their paychecks.
I have seen a little uptick in my paycheck, about what I expected, about 30 bucks, said machinist Matt Kazee, who voted for Trump in 2016, of the tax cut. It felt to me about like where things were 15 years ago.
Brian Barkalow, a worker at Requarth Lumber, told the Times that he feared paying slightly less in taxes now would only mean paying more in the future.
Hes pulling out jazz hands and shiny stuff up front and will screw us on the back end, he explained.

(115,681 posts)And BTW, Ted, there isn't much by the way of an "extreme left" in the U.S. There are, however, a whole lot of people who believe the GOP is destructive and dangerous, that Trump is a lunatic, and that you suck.

(36,827 posts)His only hope is to get an increasingly larger voter turnout from a shrinking demographic, which has been the GOP's tactic in Texas for quite a long time. The reason this strategy has been so effective is because the GOTV effort in Texas has been largely absent. Those networks have been experiencing something of a renaissance in the last few years and Trump has awakened a sleeping dragon. As Texas goes, so does the nation. Texas will go blue at some point and Cruz knows it. It's not a question of if, but only when. Once this happens, the GOP is done for at least a generation and may simply go the way of the Whigs.

(92 posts)I don't know how he defined extreme left, but most of America is angry. He actually has something to do with that. When did he become a fan of Trump? Oh, right. When he gained power and influence. Cruz is such a Muppet.

(2,541 posts)Trump. He did not get to where he is on his own. He had a lot of help. Namely 60+ million of my fellow citizens.
What I dislike is the double standard of the Republican Party. The my way or the highway attitude. How they treated President Obama. They put party before country especially in regards to the SCOTUS vote for Garland. If trump was a democratic president and the Democratic Party was behaving the way republicans are I would dislike them just as equally.
We cannot let republicans frame the narrative like this. That Dems are an angry mob. We are not, we want justice / fairness / equality for all. Politics is not a sport, it is not my team v. your team. It is a group effort that requires compromise in order to move forward. We have to get back to being able to sit down and compromise with one another or we are not going to last long.

(1,202 posts)It's not just the far left that hates Trump. Center left, center, center Right Dems hate him too. There is also a goodly number of Republicans that hate him too...Steve Schmidt (the guy on MSNBC), the Bush family, the Romney's, Omarosa (maybe), Marla Maples, all of the women he sexually assulted, a majority of the Hispanic voters (who tend toward conservative politics), etc. I'm not even sure if Sessions, Bannon or Tillerson, would vote for Trump in the next election
Trump can count on Putin, Assange, knuckle dragging Trumpsters, the ignorant, some Greenies, Sarandon and some JPR'rs.
