A political question for DU Christians.

Only really want opinions from Christians or those with Trump Christian family members.

How do those that voted for Trump and still support him reconcile all of Trumps immoral actions and statements with their personal religious views.

Do they simply not believe things like the Stormy Daniels story?
Or do they think that it is of little importance as long as he’s anti abortion and appoints very conservative judges?
Are they just so partisanally hypocritical that that wouldn’t allow such behavior from Dems but it’s ok from a Repub simply because they are on the same team/tribe?

1. You assume that they hear or read about it.

They are in pretty strong bubbles...if it’s not on Fox or the preacher doesn’t mention it, they don’t even know it’s happening.
If by chance they find out, it’s “fake news”.

I have a relative who is a nun who voted Trump. She won't talk about it. Radio silence.

I will say this in her defense. She is older and started watching Fox news. I truly she believe she is brainwashed.

3. I am a Christian who believes Donald Trump

is evil personified.

Having said that, I have "Christian" family members who believe:

1) Abortion is murder, and they'd sell their mothers down the river to have abortion made illegal, starting at conception.
2) Prosperity gospel. God "rewards" good Christians with lots of wealth.
3) God uses "imperfect" people to do his will.
4) Supreme Court is the most important factor in an election (see abortion above).
5) They want a Christian nation (see Supreme Court above).

I recently read a story explaining what the prosperity Gospel is.
Certainly not what I was taught many years ago about the meek inheriting the earth, rich man and the eye of a needle, etc.

4. Abortion

It's the ONLY thing that far too many voters, especially those who call themselves "Christians", care about. He could drown puppies on TV and start WWIII and if he said he was "pro-life" they'd vote for him.
I think the only way those people could be reached would be if there was credible evidence that Dolt 45 paid for one of his mistresses' abortions. You know damn well he did and more than once, but $$ bought silence.

9. I love asking the anti abortion crowd this question.

Me: So, do you think that abortion is murder?
Them: Oh, yes.
Me: So, that would make the Doctor who performs the abortion a murderer?
Them: Yes, definitely.
Me: And, what of the woman? Isn’t she also a murderer having asked for the murder?
Them: ummm, errr, well....(befuddled look)...I’m not sure...I’ve gotta Go now.

Did you know that 30-40% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, or "spontaneous abortion"? Does that make God an abortionist? A murderer?

"How do those that voted for Trump and still support him reconcile all of Trumps immoral actions and statements with their personal religious views. "

It's easily reconciled when you truly believe abortion is murder, the Big Dog has partaken in child sex rings, and Hillary wants to turn the country into an atheists utopia.

"Are they just so partisanally hypocritical that that wouldn’t allow such behavior from Dems but it’s ok from a Repub simply because they are on the same team/tribe?"

They believe Democrats are worse. That Democrats take part in every bit as bad of behavior.

Propaganda. It works. Even on us. People right here have promoted that sick fuck Alan Grayson. A known woman abuser. Why? He is mean to Republicans.

7. I am a DU Christian - attend church every week - also a Liberal Democratic voter

I don't spend a lot of time talking about this - for the most part I think my fellow parishiners are eager to discuss politics just now. But that could be because my particular congregation is divided (I know that some very Liberal and vocal folk attend my unit). Those who try to justify it will jump to Abortion as being the key and only important issue - or they, like many conservative, expect Government to be a failure anyway - so an outright crook and bastard like Trump isn't really any different than a well meaning politician - the system itself is corruptive - kind of nihilistic way to look at it, but if you don't think success is possible you don't worry about failure i guess.

8. The Republican Party represents the antithesis of my Christian beliefs.
Thu Mar 8, 2018, 09:14 AM

I believe in forgiveness and mercy.

I believe in feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and giving alms to the poor.

I believe in "judge not" and "do unto others".

Today's Republican Party stands for the greed and selfishness of Ayn Rand. They stand for "might makes right" and "money talks". And while many of them do speak highly of a person named "Jesus", their Jesus doesn't sound very much like the Jewish carpenter and rabbi that I follow.

10. You misperceive what RW Christians believe
Thu Mar 8, 2018, 10:02 AM
Mar 2018

King Solomon had an endless supply of concubines.

King David arranged for a general to die so that he could sleep with his wife.

The RW Christian crowd sees these sorts of sexual proclivities as a mark of a "great leader" with carnal flaws.

But that's okay, because their invisible friend forgives all of that.

Didn’t they vilify all of them as immoral and not worthy of political office?

They are used by the Greedy keep my taxes low power brokers of the GOP like the Koch brothers Paul Ryan, etc.
Without these anti abortion foot soldiers aligning with the super wealthy, the GOP would cease to exist in its current firm.
Can that unholy alliance of the two groups be broken?
