the Loop. Trump heard that meeting was taking place in West Wing and invited himself him. Next thing everyone knew, Trump was meeting Kim of NK. damn.

Trump views this all about the media attention and nothing about the details. Un has gone from meeting with Dennis Rodman to meeting with the POTUS. There is a reason no POTUS has met with any NK leader. There is no value in giving legitimacy to this government. But the US government has always met back door with NK leaders. Not trump. It is all about the photo ops and nothing about reality.

President of 'Murica givin' Kim the what fer....

I fully expect the announcement of this Kim meeting, the imposition of tariffs and the immigration fight with California to make Trump's approval numbers to rise. Maybe even significantly, we are not just dealing with a stupid President.

I recall during the 2008 campaign that PBO said he would meet with Iranian leaders "with no pre-conditions." I remember thinking that would have been a great opportunity to say instead, "I will meet with Iranian leaders as soon as the last American prisoner has set foot on American soil." After all, we had what they wanted: Lots and lots of their $$$ held hostage.

We don't have that kind of leverage with Kim.

So--other than this being Trump and he is bound to screw things up, how is this different?

I'm not going to defend that POS-POTUS, but talking beats bombing any day, IMHO.
