(611 posts)I can see a narrow victory for Lamb. If it is 5 or 6 % that is a real landslide, considering that this district is Dotardistan. When the real midterms happen in the fall, the districts will be a lot less Gerrymandered so even if Lamb loses today I expect him to come back and run under more fair conditions.

(1,580 posts)Connor Lamb fits the district. He has embraced the unions, has a strong working and middle class message, is an economic populist and social moderate. He is a marine veteran. I so hope he can pull this off. It will shock the hell out of the GOP.
I have donated twice. Small donations, but they all matter. Hope others will donate too.

(611 posts)Ive worked in many campaigns, and when they send someone from Boston or Washington DC, I would make it a point to sit them down and say Just because someone is a Democrat does not mean they think like you. These people oppose abortion and favor responsible gun ownership. Some got it, some didnt. I also tried to tell the higher ups not to send people with a discernible regional accent from another region. That did not play well when doorknocking.
IMHO, the key on gun control is the responsible use part. NO ONE here is in favor of a mentally unbalanced person being able to legally buy a weapon and shoot up a school.
Abortion is non negotiable, and Tim Murphys hypocrisy on that got him bounced from office in PA-18.

(3,635 posts)a core element of women's rights and essential to what the modern Dem party stands for.
Lamb is personally against abortion, but politically pro-choice - a similar position to Tim Kaine or Joe Biden.
Gun control also is becoming a non-negotiable issue, especially with the youth and suburban moderates (important Dem constituencies) strongly behind it.
The people you speak of in rural areas are Dixiecrats, not Dems (not even moderate Dems).
