when the bit about Hilary's emails came out just before the election?
The investigation into trump and perps would have gone underground and they would have been more careful. This would have made Mueller's job much harder.
As it was, they weren't afraid of the law because they knew they were going to win and by winning, they could easily cover the crimes with sessions as Attorney General, and they could rule with an iron fist. Everything they did after winning would have been a done deal.
Not knowing about the investigation made them sloppy as hell and it's turned into an advantage as more and more crimes are being revealed.

(32,609 posts)Trump has been careless for decades. It did not start with the campaign.

(2,078 posts)I agree with the effect. You are obviously correct on that.
Two counters-
1. Well, had it been revealed, Trump might not be president. -No nightmare presidency
2. If one was revealed (Hillary) and was clearly political and near the election, then fairness DEMANDS the other be known.
These lemons can't be lemonade.

(11,564 posts)For a guy sworn to uphold the law, he did just the opposite and we are all paying the price. He belongs behind bars. There is no ambiguity in the law. Comey should have treated each campaign equally. It's standard FBI practice not to comment on investigations. He made a partisan decision, instead. Lock him up!

(53,776 posts)A cursory examination of the so-called new emails would've revealed they were just duplicates of what had already been investigated.
He, the director of the FBI got tricked by rogue agents and Guilliani out of the NY office and instead of firing their insubordinate asses, he panicked and sent that letter to Chaffetz who he knew would leak it.
He deserves all the condemnation he's getting for not just throwing the election to the crew of Russian ass kissing crooks we have in the WH now, but also being an inept director who lost control of his NY field office.
