78-year-old diner Adrien Charpentier needed a little help cutting up his breakfast at a Texas Waffle House restaurant. Williams could have simply ignored his situation. Instead, she quietly took charge and helped him enjoy his meal without calling attention to herself.
However, fellow diner Laura Wolf was paying attention and snapped a photo of the interaction. Wolf posted the photo on Facebook, where it quickly went viral.
"This may seem small but to him, I'm sure it was huge," she wrote. "I'm thankful to have seen this act of kindness and caring at the start of my day while everything in this world seems so negative."
...
And then something even more incredible happened: Texas Southern University offered her a $16,000 scholarship along with the aid of a counselor to help her enroll at the university.

(63,221 posts)It's so nice to hear about acts of kindness and to know that there is still good left in this crazy, hate-filled country of ours. We need to hear about more of these everyday heroes.

There are millions of hardworking good people out there for sure. Too bad the republican party and the billionaires that run it, war on them 24/7/365.
Its nice to see some good news though, thanks OP!

(37,364 posts)find a helpful stranger. I lost full use of my my left hand a little over a year ago after a serious illness. The world as become difficult place to negotiate. I understand this man's story. It is hard, but necessary, to ask for help times and to hope that the person you ask is trustworthy. You become vulnerable. That waitress will be rewarded, as will those who gave helped so many who need it.
P.S. This is why I don't post often. Typing has become hard.

(17,984 posts)Broke my right wrist on black ice. Then a few years later went to ER with a hand that felt like a block of wood. All the tests came back negative.
Doctors decided my carpal tunnel nerve was at fault. Exercised too hard at the Y! Dont laugh now. Cortisone shot, but it took a few days.

Truthfully there are way more Evonis on this planet than I can count. They perform kind acts quietly.
