Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) on Monday called for Congress to stand up to the gun lobby and praised the students and faculty who have been advocating in recent days for action on gun control.

"It's time for Congress to have the same courage and compassion as Emma Gonzalez and the parents, students, and faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School," Harris tweeted.
