The article states (on a few occasions) that the majority of worshipers at these churches is white. "Missionaries" were sent out to recruit POCs to the churches. And then they basically said "Screw you" in 2016.

I'll tell you something scary Malaise. I was raised in the Dallas Ft Worth area. In fact, my home for the first nine years of my life was in Arlington, smack dab in the middle between the two cities. I can't remember what it was like when I was there in the 70s, but for the last decade or so, there has been a church on every single corner. I am NOT exaggerating. And these aren't small churches, either. They are huge, with enough seating for several hundred. Last time I was there I thought about how to take a picture showing four monster sized churches positioned on each corner of an intersection. It is truly mind blowing how "godly" these people have become, as though there is nothing else in their lives.

We used to be in the Guinness Book of records for the most churches in the world per capita.

They're not 'godly'. Most are just snake oil salesmen and women.
