(84,057 posts)Think of your colon as the waste management station of your body. All of the cells and tissues in your body and your major organ of detoxification, the liver rely upon a well-functioning colon so they can cleanse your body of toxins.
Yes, waste products that are left over from digestion of the food you eat is sent to your colon to be safely excreted from your body, but also important nutrients and hormones are still being absorbed or manufactured there as well. When everything is working in an efficient manner, your colon would be not only handle the waste, it would alsoabsorb leftover nutrients (like water, electrolytes, and vitamins) from digested foods and send them back for your body to use.
In essence, your colon is deciding what to get rid of and what important nutrients to redistribute.
Now, if you think its rare for people to have issues with their colon, think again!
Here are 3 important reasons everyone can benefit from colon cleansing:
The average person has between 7 10 pounds of old fecal matter in their colon, even with a bowel movement each day.
The accumulation of waste on the walls of your colon creates the perfect breeding ground for parasites, yeast, bad bacteria and viruses.
In fact, for too many people today, detoxification pathways are essentially blocked. Over time, toxins build up. It is estimated that the average person is exposed to over 123 toxic chemicals each day from food, water, air, stress and personal care products.
Blocked detoxification pathways can result in autointoxication, which according to Dr. Bernard Jensen in his book Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Management, produces undesirable consequences in the body and is the root cause of many of todays diseases and illnesses.

I stand with Nancy. It is never just talk with her. She walks the walk.
...................
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi spoke on the House floor for eight hours Wednesday, giving the longest speech in that chamber in at least a century. She did so to pressure Speaker Paul D. Ryan to permit a vote on protecting the roughly 700,000 undocumented dreamers. Republicans expressed delight that eyes were on the polarizing Pelosi, but her marathon speech served to energize activists while highlighting that House Republicans will not commit to a vote. Despite having little leverage, she scored a tactical success.
Its not just Republicans who discount Pelosis talents. Some Democrats are unsatisfied with her leadership: They accuse her of being unable to deliver on liberal Democrats top priorities, hurting the partys brand and blocking the way for younger members.
But Pelosi is one of the most underrated American politicians of the past half-century. Her media and activist critics judge her competence and leadership almost entirely based on her performance in front of a microphone. Pelosi has never tried, as Ryan did, to seduce the press, and what she says in public is occasionally convoluted. Her strength is in what she does away from the microphones.

THIS RIGHT HERE! THIS! SHE DOES NOT NEED A MICROPHONE OR BRIGHT LIGHTS.
She works for us everyday behind the scenes and making a difference.
Her strength is in what she does away from the microphones and not pontificating in front of the masses. Her words and actions matter. I am so proud to be a Democrat.

(37,648 posts)Compare with statements by Schiff. Now HIS statements were professional, dignified....and strong.
"A grave disservice to the country. It's essentially the majority saying we'd just rather not know." Respectful, but strong and to the point.
This is serious stuff. It deserves a serious, strong statement by the leader.
26. Not at all. Just truth.

So the man , and I love Schiff, made a strong and to the point statement. Yet Pelosi sucked and was weak? Because she is a woman? She made a funny and made me laugh. You have an issue with that? Why?
In these very strange times we need to have laser focus on the issues. Then to survive, most of us need a funny once in awhile. A laugh to relieve a little pressure that builds up in us from time to time. I do not know about you Honeycombe...some of us just need to laugh a time or two.

(58,785 posts)"asleep at the wheel" instead of accusing him of depraved dereliction of duty to, and even active betrayal of, his office and nation, possible conspiracy to commit treason, possible treason, and at very least possible involvement in seditious plotting against the people of the United States with agents in and outside the government.
Put this cute little picture, "asleep at the wheel" against the reality of what he is unquestionably a part and leader of. Ryan has no mandate from the people to transfer our national wealth to his donor class, nor to dismantle Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, VA, Unemployment, labor laws, banking regulations, EPA, USPS, National Institutes of Health, and on and on and on until it's all gone except the military and an extreme right-packed judiciary.

(42,465 posts)"Todays decision to shut down the Intelligence Committees investigation is part of a disturbing pattern by the House GOP to obstruct and interfere with investigations into the Trump-Russia scandal. Speaker Ryan has allowed the House Intelligence Committee to make a mockery not only of the investigation but the Committee itself.
Multiple Americans and Russians have been indicted or pled guilty in the Trump-Russia scandal. Every day, the extent of Russian meddling in our democracy becomes clearer, leaving us with more unanswered questions.
The House Intelligence Committee has a responsibility to provide the American people a comprehensive and fair investigation into Russias attacks, and to thoroughly investigate the many critical, outstanding questions about foreign interference in our elections. Over the past year, I have repeatedly expressed concerns to Speaker Ryan about House Intelligence Committee Republicans lack of leadership and integrity. The Speaker has refused to insist that the Committee follow the facts.
House Republicans have abandoned their oath to support and defend the Constitution and protect the American people. Democrats will continue to take real, immediate action to secure our democracy.

Did you really think that tweet was her statement?
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)That was the statement she issued. This second one is much better....issued a day later, after requests for a strong leadership statement for history & for the record.
So yes, this second statement is more appropriately strong and serves the purpose of being an historical record of what happened.
mcar
(42,465 posts)Not "the statement she issued." Some on this thread are saying the tweet wasn't even from her.

(81,594 posts)She never brought anything up for the vote on the House floor without knowing exactly how that vote would turn out. Therefore she was never blindsided or embarrassed - like Paul Ryan routinely has been.
He's STILL asleep at the switch. Hope you like the fancy title and all the perks, dude. This time next year, you'll be a has-been. I saw Ted Lieu speak at a local Dem club last year, and he said the Dems are gonna take back the House. GRANTED, that was last year, and that was speculation and he's a lot of wonderful brilliant things but a psychic isn't one of them.
But it sure is looking that way. That is, if the Russians aren't gonna sneak in the back door and steal it for the GOP again, as they did in 2016. Probably why NOTHING has been done to short-circuit that, on the CONS' part or Tillerson's part at the State Department - in not spending a freakin' nickel of the millions of dollars earmarked for his department to fend off further Russian invasions.
There's only one conclusion to draw here.
They're not doing squat because they want that help again.
And they know it's harder for them to win unless they CHEAT.
Me.
