Vice President Mike Pences visit Saturday could add a dose of politics into the mixture of family fun and drunken mayhem typically experienced during Savannahs St. Patricks Day celebrations.
Pence, an evangelical Christian with Irish roots, will be participating in the more family friendly parade by joining Mayor Eddie DeLoach in greeting parade-goers and participants during the event, city officials announced during a press conference Tuesday morning.
The mayor is honored to welcome Vice President Pence and members of the Pence family to our city and to what we believe is the worlds greatest St. Patricks Day parade and celebration, said city spokesperson Michelle Gavin.
Little information was provided Tuesday about Pences visit due to national security reasons, but additional details regarding security measures, traffic flow and potential disruptions to residents routines during the event will be provided throughout the week, Gavin said.

I'm hoping that Savannah shows the bigot how diverse we are and how we reject his hatred.
