They did it to just update the American people about how the investigation was progressing.

Did they come out with an "interim report" during Watergate or did they wait until the investigation was over?? I personally don't recall but I doubt that they did?

Also, he said they would be open to re-opening the investigation if more evidence came forward.

By the way, Ari does a very good job of interviewing these scam artists.
