(5,611 posts)His supporters, inside and outside of politics, have spent their time endlessly condemning Bill Clinton (remember when Trump invited Clinton accusers to one of the presidential debates? Trumps response to everything, and apple-closest-to-the-tree Trump Jr.s response, is to deflect). His evangelical supporters condemn everyone else (who is a democrat) who didnt say or doesnt say the things they wanted/want to hear, even if the person in question is a church-going Christian unlike Trump.
I dont really understand your question as it seems obvious that the major issue is the insane distance between what Trump himself, his team, and his voters claim to value and believe while supporting a man who allegedly paid hush money to a porn star he f*cked while his wife was pregnant and so on. I think Melanies absence as flotus says everything we want to know about the state of their marriage.
And yes Trump Jr. and the divorce filing is a legitimate issue as Trump Jr. fully involved himself in the political scene during and after his fathers campaign. He has been on countless shows and given many interviews in which he condemned Clinton and others and democrats in general for doing the things that he is very likely guilty of himself (imho we will no doubt hear more about this soon). Trump Jr. has five young children, and I have a feeling that his soon to be ex-wife had a lot motivating her to file for divorce (the family will be in the public eye now even more than it was I think the issues were profound enough for her to choose this course of action rather than just enduring the situation until Trump senior was out of office etc)

(27,811 posts)I don't agree with how Franken was railroaded at all. But I think there were certain (misguided, IMO) people who really thought they were on the right side of history and doing the right thing, rather than falling into a trap set up by one of the sleaziest families of all time. The Trumps do terrible, terrible things that would never occur to me, or probably most people, in a million years. Al Franken was getting too pointed with Sessions (one of my favorite things about Al Franken was his way to make his questions both incisive and easily relatable to the casual observer). So the smear machine went into action.
Editing on second thought - if certain senators were one-time prosecutors, then I agree with you that there should have been a lot more due diligence. That would be sloppy lawyering, and it's certainly sloppy "senatoring".

He can always stay busy by killing defenseless animals as well.
The pre-nup has this covered.
Wait. There is a pre-nup, right?

I AM wondering, however, if Mueller can go after that money from the divorce settlement after the fact. In a lot of cases, if you see a huge transfer of money just before a divorce, the court can order that that money be returned because it should have been included in the marital assets. You see this concept in bankruptcy law and in several other areas of the law. You generally can't "hide" your assets in this way.
Here's what to watch for: if you see the divorce got resolved really quickly, with a HUGE lump sum settlement paid to the ex-wife, then there's an excellent chance that the divorce was a ruse to get millions of dollars out of the Trump Crime Family before their assets are frozen. Obviously, Don Jr. and Daddy are too dumb to think of this on their own, but they do have a team of lawyers working for them.

(63,221 posts)Hopefully she'll get a nice settlement before it all goes toward lawyer's fees and legally change hers and the kids names to distance herself from that horrible family. The kids will be better off without him.

(253 posts)It's a ruse to shuttle all of their money before Mueller's hammer comes down. This reeks of desperation- he will be arrested soon.

(7,947 posts)New York divorces take a long time to complete. The Trump family could be broke and bankrupt before there's any settlement.

(1,387 posts)If subpoenaed to testify and if she is willing to do so , does any NDA she has signed preclude her from doing so ?
Does the subpoena overide the NDA ?

(3,784 posts)The only way to LEGALLY refuse to testify is to take the Fifth, and since non-disclosure agreements are civil in nature, the Fifth wouldn't apply to them.
