I miss not being outraged on a daily basis
Remember when we didn't get up every morning in fear of what fresh horror this freak show of an "administration" would inflict on us?
When our kids didn't go to school every day worried about getting shot? When guns were not a fear for so many of us? When the best news of the day wasn't the latest subpoenas/ indictments/criminal investigation aimed at our highest levels of government? I look for rays of hope every day, and it's there. Election victories, Mueller seemingly moving ahead, and most of all, this new generation of soon to be voters. I am so grateful for them, their energy, fearlessness, and goodness are so inspiring.

1. It used to be that stress of the presidency aged the holder of the office...
...not the citizenry.

2. I long for a solid week of missing blond girl news.
Not that I want a girl to go missing. I bet they still do and we don't hear about them.

3. I've wondered what it'll be like when we return to
some normalcy. Will outrage addiction be revealed as a new epidemic, served by sites that stalk government, reporting puffed up nonscandals? Perhaps sites will advise how wean from cable fixes without triggering dangerous withdrawal syndromes, perhaps cutting viewing by a quarter every 2 weeks until down to an hour at most per day.
I won't miss coming in from outside and checking to make sure we didn't murder a few hundred thousand people while I was working in the garden. |
