(6,417 posts)Yes, it will mess up our chances there. But I don't think they're intentionally trying to create chaos. It's the same as around the country, a record number of Democrats are running for seats because they're unhappy with the Trump administration. Enthusiasm is a good thing.
Eliot Rosewater
(32,028 posts)Oh and I am more than just cynical about this new group of people doing this.
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)and each other and the Republicans can just sit back and laugh.
A few months ago, I heard the tail end of a radio interview in the car with a very moderate sounding Republican (didnt get the name), but he was already starting in on California Democrats being extreme compared to the rest of the country. Yeah, I knew exactly what he was getting at....
Eliot Rosewater
(32,028 posts)Democrats also see possible trouble in the 39th Congressional District, set mostly in northeastern Orange County and currently represented by Rep. Ed Royce, who is retiring. There are at least eight Democratic candidates, and only one with experience as an elected official.
The fears are well founded. In 2012, when the top-two primary system began, the same dynamic cost Democrats a congressional seat in the Inland Empire despite a 5 percentage point advantage in voter registration.
Like I asked, I dont know who initially proposed this on the ballot. It SEEMS beneficial to our party but it actually isnt for this reason and it is ONLY a problem if a certain GROUP decides to run too many candidates.
fuckers

R B Garr
(17,305 posts)No out of state disrupters.
Eliot Rosewater
(32,028 posts)Amazing how a certain group of people dont seem bothered at all by this REPUBLICAN PROPOSITION in CA ...
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)You don't know what you're talking about, it's very clear. The only way it hurts the California Dem party is that it opened the door for more right wing dems to push out the more progressive ones. Which you would know if you had actually researched the issue, instead of reading what you wanted to and ignored people who live here and have experienced the shift in the state from blue to more blue. Yea, a republican may win a solid red district down south, the only people surprised are from out of state.
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)predictable, and completely bizarre and self-serving narratives that will be used to attack other Democrats. No one had to research anything weve all seen it already. right wing Dems to push out the more progressive ones. A perfect example of what to expect.
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)I haven't done much because I live there and seen it happen. California is going to be fine, there will be a Dem in place. The DCCC should focus on races in red States where we can make gains instead of working up a lather over the bluest state in the union.
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)of what we have to look forward. Empty useless eye-rolling insults.
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)And underlines that you aren't listening to those who live here or doing any substantive research.
You're wasting the parties energy and time attacking dems I'm California. It's disrespectful and hurts us, and is perpetuating the Republican lie that California can't handle it's affairs.
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)It shouldnt be a shock that others live in California or that millions of people rejected the revolution propaganda. Yes, I live here. Millions more who think like me live here. California handled its affairs just fine I have not heard that so-called Republican lie.
It is not hurting Democrats by supporting them and voting for them. How utterly absurd. But your posts are just more proof of the inane insults that will be in store. Every one of your replies just proves me right.
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)come...inane purity tests.
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)There is someone condemning Dems for daring to run for political positions and saying if they don't drop they are hurting the party.
Look, it's clear neither of you have any idea what's going on in California, do your research and come back later.
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)The results are what have not been accepted. Elected Democrats are being targeted if they dont cater to Revolution tactics. It certainly is no secret what is going on. The comments were about the foolish tacticsstill on display.
But please proceedtell people they are out of touch and ignorant. It worked so well the last time. (lost by millions)...
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)Then you know that this bill backfired massively on the Republicans and has resulted in them being swept out of the state. You know that your scare tactics of "we have to fight the Republicans before we even think about working on ourselves" does not apply here, because we have done that, unless you're demanding 100% purity before any action.
You're also attacking other Dems, remember you're talking about how many people have "D" after their name, no talk at all about other candidates, just Dems.
No proof either, that's because you have none, because the proof doesn't support your position.
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)here, as if only you have a say. Millions and millions of people live here, including me. I live here!
The fact that the GOP aligns with so-called Independents and solicits them has not changed. They want people like you to fight other Democrats so they dont have to. That bill was 10 years ago, but that hasnt changed, I find it funny that the Revolution put so much stock in California and came up short. Ill stick with the majorityyou can stick with the inane insults and attacks.
And obviously you didnt read the article. It is talking about the damage attacking Democrats will do in the seats mentioned. Read the article. Or notactually it is better that you just attack /- people can see the empty revolution tactics again. Just like I said, attack other Democrats and empty purity tests. This is what is in store, No thanks,
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)You are acting like you have no clue what's been going on in this state.
I find it interesting that you're labeling anyone who disagrees with you as an enemy. Now I'm a member of the "revolution" or something. It's like you haven't read anything I've been saying. You've made your conclusion, now you have to shape the conversation to match it. Too common around here.
Whelp, have fun making a mountain out of a mole hill!
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)and accusation. The false superiority is also recognizable. You are just proving me right with these tactics. Insulting people is what we have to look forward to.
You should read the article since you are confused over what this thread is about.

R B Garr

Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)But it's nothing to do with anything I said.
And thanks for confirming that you are refusing to actually do your homework before taking up a crusade where you're not wanted.
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)The best news ever. Inane insults, trying to recall elected politicians with empty purity tests, losing elections by MILLIONS no thanks. Ill stick with the majority of Californians who rejected that.
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)Nothing you said has anything to do with the topic at hand, other than your ignorance at California politics.
R B Garr
(17,305 posts)is also evident. Its funny how you think your revolution tactics arent obvious. They are not a secret.
edit-I also know Hillary beat both opponents here by millions. Ill stick with the majority no losing.

(14,167 posts)Pick the top two strongest candidates and move on with life.
These are not ordinary times. We have to WIN and win BIGLY.
Commission some polling. Find out who has the highest favorables and name recognition.
But also find a spot within the party for those who sincerely threw their name in the hat to help take back this country.
Eliot Rosewater
(32,028 posts)We shall see if these NEW members running do the right thing or not.
FUCK
"We don't have the power to force anyone out. We are trying to do this in a respectful manner because this is America," Lieu said. "But if you've got candidates that are polling at 2% or 4% in some districts there's zero path to victory."
The DCCC has done polling showing Democrats could easily be shut out in some of these crucial California contests. At least two polls of voters in the 39th and 49th districts show it's entirely possible two Republicans would break through and leave Democrats with a missed opportunity.
Tatiana
(14,167 posts)That's why they need to do the polling.
The last thing we need is hurt feelings and more bitterness. The more we can do to create a team environment, the better.

R B Garr
(17,305 posts)to split Democrats. There was some Green Party guy just found to be on the GOP payroll.
Of course, Independents never win anything but like to demonize Democrats perfect for the Republicans. No wonder the GOP left Bernie alone.

seventy eight years as a democrat. Progressives some how don't realize that all politics are local. In this district only a moderate democrat can win that seat.

(21,646 posts)here we have two separate open primaries so in the general at the end, its 1R. vs 1D,. but anyone can vote in one party's primary just not vote in both
It has more to do with blanket winners in CA IMO than the fact there is a multitude of candidates
That is happening in many places this year.
Many people are running, but just not with same results CA could give from prop 14
I have no problem with a crowed primary here and am happy to see so many candidates up to the challenge not upset at all. Different wings of the dem party participating in debates etc.
So many good choices here that so many say it is hard to choose
... By March 21 IL will have decided for each of the general election races the winner D and winner R for Nov. (unless unopposed and of course any additional parties running)
To me that is the difference -prop 14
