(6,854 posts)Offering a look to the future to Texans. Talking about texas's lead in renewable energy has to make Texans feel that they can really lead the country. Talking about the safety of his city and the value of immigration to Texas very good. Slamming Cruz for visiting every county in Iowa but not Texas and for Spending first few years in Iowa and not his home state ... really good.

(4,831 posts)Not afraid to back Bernie's Medicare for all. Knows that to get voters off their butts, they need to have someone/something to vote for. Trump and Cruz will provide a reason not to vote, Beto is offering a reason TO vote. Beto points out Texas ranks 49th in voter turnout. I think he knows what to do to get them to the polls.

(44,973 posts)While democratic turnout increased in the primary, there were still hundreds of thousands less voters than in republican primary.

(4,831 posts)I think people are apt to stay home if they think the final result will not be changed. Beto offers a big choice to voters who are looking at him vs. Cruz. Maybe the other Democrats were similar enough to each other that the voters weren't all that motivated.
Hopefully as the November election nears, the interest level will increase, people will see some hope for change from Cruz's view of the world and folks will show up and help get voters to the polls.

Gun control yes. Gun bans no. I think calling for gun bans on popular rifles is an unforced error.

(1,990 posts)The less likely he is to beat the republican. This is my experience with Texas politics. I'll keep giving $$ to his campaign. Maybe one day this trend will be broken.

(63,221 posts)Bill read a few quotes about how much people hated Cruz and said "How bad are you going to feel if you can't beat this guy?" I think he said it in jest, but Beto has to beat Cruz. Nobody in their right mind would vote for Cruz over this guy.
