Why do so many people hate Hillary?
Why do so many people hate Nancy Pelosi?
Why do so many people hate Congressman Adam Schiff?
Why do so many people hate Barack Obama?
The reason these decent people (all Democrats) are so hated by so many, is because the Republican hate/propaganda machine has demonized them, lied about them, and repeated their names over, and over, and over again labeling them as enemies of America and humanity.
And also because Democrats don't know how to fight the evil, soul-killing entity known as the Republican Party.
For many decades now, Republicans have framed Democratic leaders as villains. And the general public, to a great degree, (including some Democrats), have bought into it.
It's called brain-washing and it's worked because we Democrats have allowed it to work. We don't know how to fight back. When we choose a candidate for 2020, they'll do exactly the same thing. And we'll play defense, as usual. By the time election day rolls around, our candidate, (Bernie?, Elizabeth?, Biden?, ... whoever), will be turned into an object of ridicule and hate to all Republicans (and some Democrats). This is what the Republican hate/propaganda machine is. This is what it does.
Why do we let Republicans get away with framing our candidates? And why do we let them get away with portraying their own candidates as "patriots," "real Americans," "God's chosen," "Saviors of freedom," and so on? It's because we Democrats are playing by some set of "rules." And they aren't.
Time for Dems to stop playing "Mr. Nice Guy." Time to call them out for their lies, hypocrisy and their actions to destroy the constitution and our democracy. Time to counter their hate/propaganda machine and expose Republicans as enemies of our freedoms and our democracy. Past time to fight the pure evil they've allowed to flourish in America.

(6,377 posts)Fear is an extremely strong motivator, and Republicans for the past 30 years have found ways to stoke the fear of the changing world in the hearts of mid-age and older white males. They've been afraid that the status quo is changing, the white male is no longer the overwhelmingly dominant figure. The right wing using talk radio and fox news, have stoked those fears and effectively driven them to the polls.

(14,167 posts)Those are some kids who took the gloves off and said "bring it on!"
Why? Because they literally stared death in the face. Part of the problem is that we can be overly analytical and rational. We need to dig into our guts sometimes and tap into the emotions of life and death.
The Trump/Putin/Republican agenda is represents life or death for us. Mostly death for those who are not wealthy and bereft of morals.
This man is killing people. Dubya murdered people in Iraq and we let him get away with it.
We need some good old-fashioned righteous anger. And we need to hurl it strait at the treasonous bastards.
No more playing nice. The Dixie Chicks had that part right.

(17,003 posts)sounds nice but it's not very effective. I'm more inclined to believe "when they go low, jump in the trench and stand on their neck until they take their last breath."

(63,846 posts)know we are too analytical and we don't play dirty, I think we better play dirty on this horrible situation, we have Russia pulling the strings in OUR government. The Repigs have been dirty for many years we have enough evidence to prove how low they are.

(3,011 posts)while they hold theirs to no standard at all. Case in point: Today, I read a thread about Dick Durbin criticizing Hillary Clinton for her "deplorables" comment. The right plays that game -- making a minor misstep into a permanent scar, why should we let them do that?
We should shut that down immediately and remind them of all the examples of lying, criminal behavior, etc. etc. etc. and be clear that we are living by two standards -- one where a democrat can't say a "hurtful" comment, but a republican can say anything at all.

(90 posts)This solution is not new...Instead of beccoming Chameleons as many Dems do under attack from Rape-Pub-licans and back peddle as cowards, they should double down, become HYPER AGGRESSIVE and attack the Right Wing Scum with endless rhetoreic on a massive scale. NEVER CAVE IN....DOUBLE DOWN, COUNTER ATTACK...SUPPORT.... Social Security, proclaim Medicare for all, Medicaid for the needy, Food Stamps for the hungry and remind the vast numbers of white, poor Americans that they are being FUCKED OVER by the BILLIOAIRES and the deranged ENANGELICALS who claim they have a personal relationship with JESUS!!!

(5,210 posts)I get so frustrated. The Republicans -- incl Trump -- are entirely free to make whatever comments they want, whatever lies, and they are almost NEVER countered by our side.
I imagine Schumer and Pelosi are doing good work and keep quite busy trying to hold things together. Or at least I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on that.
BUT, we've GOT to have our voices heard to a much greater extent. Their narratives win again and again and again simply because they're not countered by anyone, ever.
