the "he got played" angle just doesn't add up. these people are trained in how to handle discussions about classified information -- in the public sphere, you neither confirm nor deny. you just refuse to get into it. him revealing something he shouldn't in order to beat the leakers to the punch is like confirming or denying a public conjecture about classified information -- you just don't do it.

Comey responded to avoid having the FBI appear complicit in tipping the election against Trump. That would have been used to poison any investigations into Russia/Trump after the election.

The same pressure was used on the WH, but they didn't have all the facts because of the FBI withholding info on how bad it was until after the election.

McConnell & Ryan are as guilty as anyone in this conspiracy.

When Comey appeared 10 days before the election everyone I had complained to for 18 months realized I was right. No one could have predicted this daily nightmare.

I honestly don't think the fbi reopening the investigation swayed many people at that point. The people who were going to vote for trump were going to anyway. So that just leaves the question did it keep potential Hillary voters home? I think the polling expectations did that more then anything. Most people thought she had it in the bag.
It was a perfect storm.

I have always wondered how Russia was able to so masterful!y target the right voters on a massive scale. It surprised me that they would have the necessary accessibility to pull it off. Some of us thought WikiLeaks had to somehow be involved in order to pull it off. Then along comes this data and suddenly the picture clears up.

It may turn out the closest to actual collusion we get is the stolen docs from DNC and Podesta, carried out by actors that were probably sufficiently removed from Putin that 'colluding with Russia' remains 'tenuous'.

However, if it can shown that Trump campaign colluded with bad foreign actors, that's still pretty bad.

Comey will always be hated in my house for this. How can a supposedly experienced, intelligent person fall for this? He either wanted Trump in office, or hated Clinton so much that he wanted to keep the pressure on her during her term. Either way, he is a shitty individual, and deserves a long, miserable life.
