That's a question with a long overdue answer.

With a normal Republican president, he might well have been able to intervene in the election against the Democrats and not be fired, even if his reputation was shot for his peers and the history books. The independent OIG only recommends firing, the decision is made by political people.

But still. Publicly misusing his power then lying to the investigators about what he did, hoping to be saved from the consequences, was very costly and extremely risky.

SO, WHY DID MCCABE DO IT? Was he conspiring with others or bent to external pressure?

Same question for his boss, Comey, who also risked his career at its height and ended it.

I'm actually not clear as to whether he would have lost his entire retirement, or just a portion of it, for not reaching 50 years old before getting the boot.

Either way, this was despicable.

And I think he'll turn down all offers.

Don't forget, he's a major witness to the Mueller investigation now.

Offering him a job could inadvertently lead to claims of bias and tampering.
