Unknown to most people is the fact that there is a wealth of environmental health research that shows how commercial chemicals contribute to illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, obesity, learning disabilities, autism, central nervous system illnesses etc. This research cannot be used in toxic tort cases unless it has been published in an acceptable journal. An acceptable journal would be the one published by the organization that is staffed by corporate medical officers. This is the Fry standard which keeps corporations from having to pay up and clean up.
Example, a doctor submitted his research to and acceptable journal, on workers exposed to asbestos in the car repair business. It was rejected for "lack of interest."
Pruitt/Koch want the same standard to apply to regs. One of the major problems is that the duplication standard is nearly impossible to meet. Other than tobacco, there is little money for environmental health research but there are many sources that are even more dangerous.
We have to depend on Europe and Scandinavian countries for environmental health research.
