We are active and continue to fight and resist, but it still is depressing. The Democrats should be able to win in a walk. Hillary should have been able to win in a walk against Trump. But the reality of seeing the country so mentally ill.
I am just aghast at how much ugliness is now our new normal.

(17,276 posts)If Hillary had won, we'd still have the GOP congress and she'd have had an ongoing struggle getting anything passed. Things would have continued on about like under Obama. Doing good from the White House but stagnating in the Congress.
Well Trump changed all that. He's been so awful on so many fronts: diplomatically, domestically, morally--making the majority of us appalled and afraid--that it has mobilized people to make things change.
That's why the Blue Wave is coming. Women are speaking up. People getting involved. We may have a Fake Prez, but soon we will have a Congress that can come against him and turn the tide. It will be a battle to restore American values and reverse the way the haters have become emboldened but it's a job that has to be done. America must move forward again and catch up with the rest of the world again. We have to show them that "this" is not who we are!

(63,849 posts)when we have a reality TV celebrity who doesn't know crap.
This whole thing has been premeditated for many years and we have Russia immersed in our business and is using don the con to take down our country. Putin saw that the time was right and he took advantage of it using psychological warfare on Americans and it is working. Horrible situation we are in.

(22,114 posts)Think of what the gop has really lost, in the long term here, w/ tRUMP...I think the gop has lost an entire generation of Americans as potential voters (or at least such a significant portion of them)...when I read about stupid things that the gop is doing and so forth, I simply just shake my head and know that the day of reckoning is coming soon, and will come w/ a white hot anger as it has been w/ the special elections so far encountered this year.
I live in the Midwest, and if you live in the Midwest too, each cold day we have means one less cold day to endure later and that Spring and Summer are just right around the corner, and flowers are blooming!
This is how I view the current political state of things today. One more cold day means one less cold day later (and that Spring and Summer will be here soon, joy of joy!).
As you can tell, I'm ready for the Spring thaw!!!

(17,276 posts)It seems like all they need to do is convince the voters that our candidate is worse than theirs. Dems really need a strong message to counteract all the lies. For decades they have painted the left as scary radicals out to destroy the country. Too much change scares a lot of people. Somehow the left needs to come to be seen as the party of sanity and fairness that they really are.
And the right needs to be seen as the party destructive to democracy that they really are. Make America great again? Not be going back a century to the bad old ways! I think a lot of them would love to be back in the Guilded Age when the rich oppressed everybody else.
