Still Looking for those attending marches in: AZ, KS, MN, MS, NH, ND, OK, RI, SD, WV, WY-- If you are attending a march in one of those states please (especially) check in! We'd love to show that we have participation in all 50 states plus DC
If you are looking for an event, check here: https://event.marchforourlives.com/event/march-our-lives-events/search/
Me: Denver (expecting a record large crowd)
As to my sign-- still deciding.... Leaning toward:

Next to possibly DC, it should be the place to really send the message.
That area isn't really set up for the kind of traffic and people they will see but the City seems to be planning well.

(21,646 posts)March for Our Lives on Chicago's Near West Side
Participants will gather at Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph St., at 11 a.m., to demand that lawmakers take action to prevent mass shootings. Organizers also emphasized that the march will focus on violence in Chicago.
"In this larger conversation about gun control and school shootings, we need to be incorporating gun violence in places like Chicago, where it affects people of color at higher rates than majorities," said Sarah Jester, a senior at Walter Payton College Prep in Chicago.
Jester said many of her fellow students are too young to vote, and March for Our Lives gives them a voice.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/watch/students-prepare-for-march-for-our-lives-chicago/vp-BBKjQO7
After gathering at 11 a.m. in Union Park, protesters will march through the neighborhood around the park. The event will include performers and speakers, all under the age of 21, organizers said.

(6,253 posts)However, at the same time as the march, I'm attending a meeting on the Commission on the Way Forward, the United Methodist commission designed to revise the Book of Discipline in the area of human sexuality. My bishop is a moderator for the Commission meetings, and will be updating dozens of local churches Saturday on the final report to be presented to the Council of Bishops in April.
As I understand, most of the U.S. bishops and members are in favor allowing pastors to choose to perform same-sex marriages and allowing LGBTQ church members to become clergy, assuming that they are celibate or in a committed relationship (the same requirement exists for straight clergy). The sticking point seems to be the Church as it exists in more conservative parts of the world (especially outside the U.S.). I am quite curious to see how they undo this Gordian knot!
The rest of y'all -- go do the good work at the March!

(42,770 posts)any protests of more than two people here. They seem to care about no one and nothing beyond their own lives. If you ever walk Baylor campus it is beautiful but nothing like you would ever dream a college campus to be like. If you naturally picture students sitting on the grass discussing current events or world affairs forget about it. Any intellectual conversations and protests of any kind are beyond imagination. "What, people got shot ? Where? "Florida "...Huh...where's that ?

Have a great march down there!
Were watching CSPAN & then heading to the Athens march in just a few minutes. A friend of mine here driove a bunch of local high school kids to DC! Another friend rode the train up to DC.

(510 posts)Snowing really hard, I'm old, fat, bald and I'm still planning to attend a march at a local park which is located in the middle of town in a high traffic area. There will certainly be visibility. I just hope grassley and ernst are paying attention, as well as local lawmakers.

(184 posts)Woke up, got out of bed and could sense it..
I live in DC and last night the subway was full of young folks excited and serious about their cause. Loved seeing and feeling the energy..
Having my morning cup (or two), then going to get ready and head down to the mall for the March - I live in the Adams Morgan area of DC, so I can walk or take the 42 bus.. staying away from the train..
Its going to be a great and powerful day - you can feel it in the cool, but sunny air.
P.S. I was reflecting also this morning. It was interesting living in the city on the day Trump was inagurated.. first time I didnt go down to the mall to watch the swearing in, but was at my local pub with many others swearing as we watched the disaster unfolding. I do remember I got tears in my eyes when they were showing the Obamas leaving.. this nice woman handed me a tissue and just nodded and smiled. Its going to be alright - I have to believe and all these people who came to my city today helps me believe that. Enjoy this powerful day, all!

(37,161 posts)Turnout is a couple of hundred, mostly local high-schoolers and parents with small children.
But since the big NYC march is only six miles away, I expect a lot of JCers opted for that venue.

(11,175 posts)I also live in JC but the Hoboken march was nearer to me.
The fact that it was at 1:00 p.m. instead of 10:00 a.m. (for JC) was entirely irrelevant. It is certainly not the case that I was too lazy to get up early. Trust me.
Hoboken is far less populous than JC, so I expected a pretty small turnout, but I'd guess this one to be a couple hundred, also. Mayor Bhalla was there, wearing his turban and a "March for Our Lives" t-shirt.

(653 posts)Our event was scheduled from 11 am till 1 pm with a march from just in front of city hall to the courthouse. We had a great turnout considering the town is run by republicans and the mayor is the former state republican party chair.
