(5,648 posts)The House Republicans are washing their hands of their own investigation. The DOJ is supposed to be independent. We're hoping trump doesn't fire Mueller.

(25,853 posts)Even if they continued, it would only be a whitewash of the crimes committed. Which would give far too many people fuel to claim the Mueller investigation is a sham.

(21,130 posts)The House GOP not taking this seriously and it's paramount that they not be allowed to thwart the efforts of those that are.
Along those lines, shutting down the House investigation gives them leverage--or at least rhetoric to shut the other investigations down.

(15,805 posts)from doing it. Anyone who followed this fiasco knew that this was going to be the inevitable outcome. Republicans have slow walked the investigation and done everything they could to gum it up, and they're going to get the exact conclusion they planned from day one.

(15,805 posts)Still, it's quite likely a lot of people with be energized by his lament, and if that churns out a few more votes for Dems it's all good.

(11,256 posts)Nunes is basically a member of the administration. Mueller is our best hope, followed by winning the House and launching a real probe. Even the Senate investigation is better.
