Maryland school shooter used fathers gun to go after ex-girlfriend

by CORKY SIEMASZKO

The Maryland teenager who terrorized his high school used his father's gun to shoot a girl he'd just broken up with and another classmate, investigators said Wednesday ...

... The National Rifle Association has been quick to point to Gaskill as proof that armed guards and teachers are a better deterrent than gun control. But Gaskill faced a teenager armed with a handgun, not a rifle like the Parkland shooter.

Nevetheless, what Gaskill is reported to have done is extremely rare.

The Washington Post, which has done an analysis of dozens of school shootings, reported Wednesday that Gaskill would only be the second school resource officer to kill an active shooter since the 1999 Columbine High School massacre ...

Since his target seems to have been the girl, from what little info is in the article, I am thinking maybe he was another male who thought he was entitled to demand the girl's affection.

Nicolas Cruz was also at least partly triggered because his ex-girlfriend (whom he abused) was seeing someone else.

Most mass shooters (mass killers generally, in fact, with or without a gun) have a history of domestic violence, and most mass murders target a woman the killer was married to or otherwise involved with (or wanted to be involved with), plus her family, friends, coworkers, or anyone in the vicinity at the time of the killing.

Possibly he would have respected a man’s no? I wonder.

them how to hate and kill. It wasn’t like this decades ago. Heck, there are gunners right here proud to teach their young kids to wield a rifle like used at Sandy Hook and wear an armored vest. It’s supposedly bonding with your kids.

That's what's important after all.

I hope he thanks the 2nd Amendment every day for the death of his son.
