(5,815 posts)She came to bring her message, but she also came for her chance to honor the slain students and NOTHING was going to deter her. Good on you, Emma. Your minutes of silence were painful but effective to demonstrate their silenced voices. 😢

(13,081 posts)Ive never experienced anything quite like it. There were a few people who didnt figure out what was going on, or got impatient, but mostly I listened to hundreds of thousands of silences.
People were openly weeping, many of them, because of what she DIDNT say.
On paper, me and Emm have nothing in common. In reality? That kid is my hero. Literally.

(13,390 posts)I was reminded of these lyrics by Neil Young
"That's one more kid that'll never go to school, never get to fall in love, never get to be cool. Keep on Rockin' in the Free world." Because that's just we do in the US. I so hope these youth are shown the respect they deserve! It is so language past time for adults to care and do something.

(12,448 posts)She's incredible. Not many people, let alone high school students, could stand before an enormous crowd, completely silent, for six+ minutes. I know I couldn't. It took immense courage and resolve.
