"Killer Mike" goes into major CYA mode...

"Killer Mike" willingly went on NRA TV, and made some nasty remarks about the kids in the marches.
He said he would also throw out of his house anyone advocating gun control.

He's going to lose sales to young people of their rap tunes, so now he's frantically back-pedaling.

‘That was wrong’ — Rapper Killer Mike backtracks on NRA support, says he now supports March For Our Lives

(Excerpt that really pissed me off)

The host who interviewed Render also mocked “Malcom in the Middle‘s David Hogg,” both attacking a survivor of a mass shooting and echoing conspiracy theorists who accused the Parkland survivors as being “crisis actors.”

If he had left it as a politician discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of banning certain classes of weapons, that is one thing. To attack the students on a personal level - that is another thing.

You do also have to wonder about a philosophy in which you both advocate universal gun ownership of everything short of automatic weapons while also advocating the elimination of anti-bullying statutes. We can see where escalation will end up when all you need is a $1000 credit limit to allow you to quickly have the capability of killing a score or more of people.

“Guys, I’m sorry,” he said. “I’m sorry that an interview I did was used as a weapon against you guys. That was unfair to you and that was wrong.”

He didn't rethink what he said. He didn't apologize. He's just sorry that what he said was used as a weapon against the protesters.

Getting used by the NRA showed awfully poor judgment. How naïve must he think we are to imagine that apology makes any sense; you have to know if you're going on NRA TV that it's absolutely going to be an attack on the protests and protesters.

Anyway, re: Bernie...

Though Render and Sanders agreed on most issues that came up, gun control was the biggest difference. Though they agreed on enforced, strong instant background checks, closing the gun show loophole, and stopping straw purchases, Render emphasized the need for gun ownership for defense against the government and police, and stated his opposition to an assault weapons ban. “That’s one we disagree on,” Sanders responded, saying he supports such a ban. “That doesn’t jump me off your boat,” Render said. “That’s not enough to get me off the Bernie Sanders bus and I’d just like other gun owners to know that.”
