Lawyer Michael Avenatti Steals The Show In Stormy Daniels' '60 Minutes' Interview

MAR 26, 2018 @ 08:07 AM

In stark contrast to Daniels’ congenial talk with Cooper, in which she recounted her playful spanking of Trump with a magazine that featured his picture (Mother Jones reported it to be none other than Forbes), Avenatti’s delivery was sober, serious and clear about the real, legal issues at stake in the case:

Anderson Cooper: There are people who argue that this much ado about nothing, that if this was not a story about, an adult film actress and the President of the United States, no one would pay attention.

Michael Avenatti: This is about the cover-up. This is about the extent that Mr. Cohen and the president have gone to intimidate this woman, to silence her, to threaten her, and to put her under their thumb. It is thuggish behavior from people in power. And it has no place in American democracy.

Avenatti also had special words for Cohen’s claim that he paid Daniels $130,000 out of his own pocket.

Michael Avenatti: It's laughable. It's ludicrous. It's preposterous.

Anderson Cooper: Lawyers don't do that, you're saying. You-- you--

Michael Avenatti: Ever.

No minced words there, which isn’t surprising from a guy who pulled out a blown-up photo of Cohen during a tense discussion with Cohen's attorney, David Schwartz, on CNN, demanding to know why Cohen wouldn't come and talk in person.

1. So how does that DVD in a safe play into this?

Avennati had used it as a prop before the interview. Is there something being held back perhaps, or was it a clever move to boost interest in the interview?

4. Per Avenatti before the interview aired...

Note: (a) not all of our evidence will be mentioned/displayed tonight – that would be foolish; (b) we are not sure what CBS will include but we know a lot from the full interview will have to be cut bc of the time allowed; (c) tonight is not the end – it’s the beginning.

13. Also a helluva conincidence that the NDA was signed on Oct. 28, 2016, the same day as Comey's letter

Just a coincidence, or a coordinated crossing of all the "T"s and dotting of all the "I"s timed just before

the election by the repugs...including Comey, Chaffetz, Cohen, Giuiliani and all the other scuzz balls of

the campaign?

10. I think about how many Republicans donated money to the campaign

just to see it went into these grifters' pockets now in time for the 2018 election.

They must be pissed. It would be a real shame if we kept reminding them of this misuse of campaign funds and they decided not to donate this year.

You mean something like this: "Nice little campaign you got there. It'd be a shame if something happened to it?"
