A Few Thoughts on Stormy's Show - By Josh Marshall

March 26, 2018 12:10 am

1. There was a lot there. But it wasn’t quite all we might have imagined in shock value. I understand there was some identifying characteristics language that may have been left on the cutting room floor.

2. The big takeaway from her account of their relationship was that she quickly asserted a dominant position in her interactions with Trump and maintained that throughout. Some of that you get in the somewhat for laughs spanking encounter. The big point there wasn’t some BDSM thing. It is she showed she wasn’t intimidated by him. Note that in the second encounter after it was clear he had no real news about an Apprentice appearance, she said no to more sex. She’s continued to do that through recent weeks and especially in this interview. Notice the unambiguous statement: she never found him attractive or wanted to sleep with him.

3. Note that Daniels’ then lawyer apparently had much more lucrative offers to tell her story but directed her toward the deal with Michael Cohen. Give that Karen McDougal and Daniels both ended up with the same lawyer, there’s now lots of evidence suggesting that the lawyer was actually in cahoots with Cohen. That’s a big no no in terms of holding on to your license to practice law.

4. Daniels has now put Cohen in a tight legal bind. Most experts think this is a straight up campaign finance violation, perhaps brazen enough to be prosecuted criminally. That seldom happens. But remember that John Edwards was indicted for a similar set of facts in which he was much more tangentially involved.

5. Finally, the big news. Who threatened Daniels? She made it very clear she could identify the person if she saw him again. If you know Cohen’s business associates and particularly his past in the Taxi medallion business – strongarming major magnates in that world – you don’t need to have any question about who sent that goon. This is how Cohen operates because it’s how Trump operates.

1. Glad to see Marshall's take on this--and especially that he provided it to all.. His Prime content

at $50/year has blocked so much of the site, that I find myself going there much less often.

I recognize his need to bring $$ to the site, but that is a steep price for most, I think.

too. It's been awhile since I've been to his site, but I used to like reading the editor's blog.. or whatever he called it.

$50 a year means I won't be going there anymore.

Thank you for that, hlthe

How did McDougal and Daniels wind up with the same lawyer?

And did that lawyer they wound up with represent other women Trump obtained NDAs from?

That alone could make this very explosive - if other women come forward who were represented by the same lawyer ... it becomes very obvious the fix was in and these women could be looking at an enormous payday from these lawyers and Trump

and we have one more item to add to the list of things Trump could be impeached for

9. That part of Josh's post was really confusing

Stormy appears to have had two sets of lawyers. One she had back when she signed the NDA (when she could have gotten better deals elsewhere). And the other is her current lawyer, who was on 60 minutes with her.

I'm not sure which one she shares with McDougal. I would guess the current one, but I'm not sure.

10. No, Keith Davidson represented both first

Davidson did the NDA for Stormy and was apparently involved with negotiating the deal with the publisher for McDougal

In both cases, the women did not wind up with very good or lucrative deals.

One or two more of those and it gets beyond coincidence. Trump & Cohen would be in an even deeper mess.

4. So Trump's lawyer might have paid off the lawyer hired by both

Daniels and McDougal? Did Trump order Cohen to bribe the women's lawyer to promote a better settlement for himself, it sure sounds like the sort of sneaky tactic that he would use.

And took money to not talk about. Kept the money and decided to talk about it anyway.

And now is trying to make as much money from the notoriety as possible.

12. Really? She was tricked into signing the NDA it appears by a shady lawyer...you post is

puzzling. As for Stormy Daniels so what if she makes money? That has nothing to do with what our asshat spanky of a president has done. And if he was involved in threatening her with his goons, I think even the Republicans will impeach him...and I lived in Connecticut saw articles about him all the time on page 6; he was always a jerk and cheated everyone...his 'partners' were left bleeding and bankrupt. My Dad who liked everyone despised him and so does my brother...also a great guy...both worked with him at some point. He has had deep ties to organized crime for years. Trump has always been a despicable piece of garbage...here is hoping he is gone by May.

11. If that is true. Both lawyers involved will be disbarred.

In fact, they may face criminal prosecution and the NDA is worthless.

"Give that Karen McDougal and Daniels both ended up with the same lawyer, there’s now lots of evidence suggesting that the lawyer was actually in cahoots with Cohen."

========================

What might be another reason they would have the same lawyer??
