Top Republican Lawyer: No Ones Asking to Be on Trumps Legal Team
Ted Olson turned down a chance to represent the president. He says none of his colleagues have asked for a referral.

I asked Olson about being recruited for Trumps squad. He rolled his eyes, suggesting that this was never going to happen and that it was not just a matter of conflicts. (Though a conservative stalwart, Olson has in recent years enhanced his reputation by becoming a forceful advocate for gay marriage. Associating with Trump could well tarnish that shine.)
So this didnt get too far? I queried. Olson shrugged in an Im-not-getting-into-details way. Who knows how these trial balloons happen? he said, in a manner that definitely suggested he knows how they happen. He then joked, Joe [diGenova] lasted longer. At least two days.
So is Trump going to have trouble finding attorneys? Olson shrugged again. Let me ask this a different way, I said. In the last few days has any lawyer come up to you and said, Im willing to work for Trump?'
Without hesitation, Olson said, No. Not at all? Not at all.

The word is out and the only attorney who would consider it is only out for free publicity.

Who sane would want to tie themselves to the Trump WH at this point?

(37,648 posts)4. Yes. These are wealthy lawyers w/good reputations.
They're on the "A" list. They don't need this headache. Trump doesn't follow legal advice, anyway. So I guess he feels he doesn't really need them, except to do what he tells them to do.
