CIA Backed Data Mining Company

I have heard the company Palantir referred to as a CIA backed data mining company. Since our tax dollars pay for the CIA, I am assuming that means Palantir has received some of our tax dollars. Does that mean that somebody in our government has the capacity to do a full audit of this company and all the data on it’s servers? What about freedom of information requests?

1. I dont think having a government contract opens you to having all your servers and data audited

At least I’ve never seen any such stipulation in a contract.

Audit provisions in contracts generally only give the power to audit materials relevant to the contract at hand.

2. Palantir

Back when the Snowden revelations were in the news, I ran across a couple of Palantir comany videos, presentations to prospective clients, basically. They curled my hair.

The first one in this list looks like one of the ones that impacted me so strongly, possibly the 2nd one too, and some of the newer ones look quite revealing. I strongly encourage anyone who's interested in / concerned about our privacy at government hands, or anyone who doubts how incredibly impactful and revealing "metadata" collected about you can be have a look.
