Cosmopolitan:Things are not all sunshine and rainbows for Melania Trump. Us Weekly reports that the First Lady is deeply distressed following Stormy Daniels' and Karen McDougal's recent claims that they had affairs with her husband.
A source says Melania is "very, very unhappy with her life," and that "If she could, she would get away from Donald and just be with her son."
Us reports that Melania has also been avoiding photo ops with her husbandfor example, she was recently slated to travel on a helicopter with him from the White House South Lawn to Air Force One, and instead took her own motorcade there and just met him on the plane. "Shes very independent," another source says, explaining that she's horrified "all eyes are on her relationship with her husband. Its not an easy time for her."
Meanwhile, Melania's spokesperson Stephanie Grisham tells Us that Melania is simply "focused on being a mom and is quite enjoying spring break at Mar-a-Lago while working on future projects."

(32,634 posts)Most likely any pre-nup was set up so that he doesn't get penalized for marital infidelities.
However she would be penalized, I'm sure.
The pre-nup probably guarantees Melania a certain flat amount of cash, or maybe so much per year of marriage. She won't get any percentages of his wealth I can guarantee that. She will be constrained to not talk about him in public, or write about him for 25 years or until after he's dead. Nice stuff like that.

Hell, with child support alone, she could get a very nice house in a posh suburb, send Baron to the best schools and have nannies and housekeepers. That's WORSE case scenario. She's probably got millions of her own money. There's no way she's been with that pig for years and not made him put money in her name.

He cheated on her constantly and like he did with the wife she took him from. We warned her but the money but too much to give up.

(58,785 posts)the idea of her misery, though, and I do wish those who choose to reveal this about themselves would not do it on DU.
Melania has various duties like any wife (she made a deal to support him, knowing what he was, that she is apparently honoring as much as her unhappiness allows), mother, relative and first lady, and walking away for good may not seem that right or easy from inside. Itm, she clearly does a lot of little walking aways in between duties to support.
No one talks about Princess Diana with this kind of malice, btw. Even if there are a lot of differences in personality, there are also a lot of parallels in their marriage traps and unhappiness. Does anyone imagine Diana was romantically in love with that boring older royal with whom she had not one thought in common, or that she was unaware that he was involved in a long-term relationship with another woman who did?
deurbano
(2,895 posts)she agreed to marry him.
"Does anyone imagine Diana was romantically in love with that boring older royal with whom she had not one thought in common, or that she was unaware that he was involved in a long-term relationship with another woman who did?"
Actually, yes. She was still a teenager when they got engaged, and had grown up (like many girls then) on the "Prince Charming" myth... and he was a literal prince. She was naive and a virgin. With very little (no?) previous romantic relationships, she was swept off her feet into a seeming "fairy tale happy ending" that much of the world (most with considerably more experience than she had) also bought into. I think she did love him and thought he loved her... and didn't realize there was another woman in the picture. (To be fair, I think most people were kind of surprised at his preference... which to his credit, was not a typical one for princes... or rock stars, etc.) While they both got sucked into their respective roles, Diana was much more in the dark about the reality of the situation. I think she wasn't quite nineteen when the romance started, and then married right after turning 20. He was 13 years older.
Melania had moved across the Atlantic and had been working as a model for several years when she met that thing. She was 28 (close to the age Charles was when he and Diana got together), and the thing was 52. He was separated from his second wife with whom he had had a well publicized affair while married to his first wife. They didn't get married until Melania was 35, and in the meantime they did things like talk about their sex life on Howard Stern. She also vocally supported his racist birther-ism.
Different situations. Not that I consider Diana a saint... or wish Melania ill.
PatSeg
(47,419 posts)that Trump was a serial womanizer when Melania met him. He went on Howard Stern's show and bragged about it. He was proud of it.
I don't think Melania was shocked by the Stormy Daniels story, but she was publicly humiliated. I hope she gets out of that toxic relationship. She still has a chance to have a relatively normal life.

(62,444 posts)She earned the reputation she had - and has - among her many admirers, by forthrightly engaging the marginalized.
One is entitled to ones opinion on the whole royalty thing, etc., but even if one is reflexively hostile to royalty, I think one can still draw a wide distinction between Diana and Melanoma.
But, yes, they did both choose their paths in life - thats where the commonality ends, because their choices of how to make productive use of their chosen paths are quite different.

(870 posts)Heck anyone who saw the Inauguration, saw that look on her face as Trump stood at the Podium, and they certainly saw, that disrespect she was shown, when Trump charged up the steps to the Whitehouse and Ignored her completely, Obama had to extend his hand to show her the grace of a gentleman as she ascended the steps.
The whole world saw her 'flapping his hand away" and have seen her doing everything she can "NOT" to hold his hand and she makes sure when she exits Air Force One, to make her hand busy, so she does not have to touch Trump's Hand.
It does not help us as a Party, because we already know she's there for the money, or she is there under threat and probably contract that if she leaves, she will be some way attacked by his base, as well as his attorneys who will do all they can to see that she get's as less as possible. And if she leaves during his term in Office, the pressure of implied threat is likely so great she has no idea what to do, but try and tolerate it as long as she can. Besides with what she knows.. she know her life is in a mess of a situation that only has a pin hole for escape, and at this particular time, she can't fit through the pin hole. she has to wait until it become a rip, large enough to squeeze through and do so with her son.

(14,572 posts)Yes, Melania married him, and yes she has a son. But it is hard for me not to feel some compassion for her, at least. Can you imagine the horror she must be feeling knowing her husband is now the laughingstock of the world, that he has lurched from crisis to crisis without anything resembling a plan, that he is totally unqualified to be president, and that he quite possibly has committed a variety of crimes up to and including treason, for which he may well be stripped of all wealth and end up living out his life in a cage.
And, now, she must also deal with the personal humiliation that her husband slept with other women while she was recovering from giving birth to his son.

I think she's happy enough, as long as she has a few million in her checking account. I figure her checking account is flush with millions as payment for the Stormy Daniels adultery, and then even more flowed in after the Stormy 60 Minutes interview. She gets a little richer in her own right, with every revelation of adultery.
